Born in Kolkata, Rajnish went to St. Paulâs School, Darjeeling, and Lamartiniere for Boys, Kolkata, before graduating in Commerce, from St. Xaviersâ College, Kolkata. Honour for a Ransom is his second novel, after A Passion Beyond Extremes (published by Leadstart Publishing in 2012). Sometime in 2009 (while he was writing his first novel), his attention was drawn to a newspaper report concerning the ghastly killing of a teenaged couple in Punjab. It was alleged that the girlâs affluent family, in order to uphold âfamily honourâ, had manoeuvred the murders because the boy (a talented singer) belonged to a low caste. This disturbing report triggered an inspiration within him to weave a plot for his next novel â centred around the barbaric social crime of âhonour killingâ. Rajnish is a full time Director with a Corporate House in Kolkata and also owns âYoforiaâ, a frozen yogurt store at the Forum Mall, Kolkata.
