I'll make my sisters squirm like well-salted earthworms. I won't sell. Even my jutti wont sell. And if I die na, then even my gosht won't sell!

The late Binodini Thakur had been very clear that she would never agree to sell her hissa in her Bauji's big old house on Hailey Road. And her daughter Bonu, is determined to honor her mothers wishes.

But what to do about her four pushy aunts who are insisting she sell? One is bald and stingy, one is jobless and manless, one needs the money to 'save the nation' and one is stepmother to Bonus childhood crush-brilliant young Bollywood director Samar Vir Singh, who promised BJ upon his deathbed that he would get the house sold, divvy the money equally and end all the bickering within the family.

The first word baby Bonu ever spoke was 'Balls' and indeed, she is ballsy, bullshit-intolerant, brave and beautiful.

But is she strong enough to weather emotional blackmail by the spadefull? Not to mention shady builders, wily politicians, spies, lies and the knee-buckling hotness of Samars intense eyes?

Sharply observed and pulse-quickeningly romantic, this is Anuja Chauhan writing at her sparkling best!

Like you are watching a Bollywood movie.

Previous novel of this young, brilliant and brace lady which I read was 'Zoya factor'. Her writings are filled with witty one liners, having INDIAN touch, fun filled, sexy anecdotes and very soft romance that will make you to quiver for more.
Here she has very carefully build characters and engraved them in a plot which doesn't have a thrilling or suspense at end but all expected from very first pages.
Playing justice to so many characters, those Pricey Thakur Girls, their extended family, ...

The House that B.J. Built thoughts

It was the first time I was reading the work of Anuja Chauhan and she has made a fan in me.
Even though it's a sequel to 'Those Pricey Thakur Girls' it stand out on it's own. Having nver read that I was never lost. You can absolutely enjoy this without the prequel, though I would recommend you pick that first it will make the experience much more enjoyable.

Now to the story I think I was hooked 6-7 or pages in and never lost interest in the story. It has all the ingredients that make a stor...

    Value-for-money

I simply love Anuja chauhan's writing. I re read her books because of the fantastic writing, humour and ofcourse the indianized English...her books makes you start believing in the old family ties again and the craziness of Indian families.
In this book the love story could have been evolved a little bit more like D for Dylan and Debjani but chalo it's ok. The supporting cast was amazing and I truly believe that BJ's house was worth all the efforts taken by the pricey Thakur girls....

A fun read with serious thought provoking note

The House That BJ Built is the sequel of the bestselling novel Those Pricey Thakur Girls by Anuja Chauhan. The sequel is more about Bonu Singh (daughter of Late Binodini Singh) and Samar Vir Singh (stepson of Anjini Singh). The wavering feeling of the step cousins for each other, the problems they face, the solution they imply all are rendered seamlessly.

    Highlights

The character build up of Bonu and Samar is so perfect that we can envisage them. Every minute details are taken care of imp...

    Worth Reading

I had borrowed ‘The Pricey Thakur Girls’ from a friend and had enjoyed the reading experience of it. So it was a no-brainer that I would pick this book up too. Only this time I delved into the book with some expectations.

The Thakur girls are back and this book is all about how the family wants to sell the house that BJ built. While the central plot deals with that, there are parallel storylines involving the central characters. On one hand we have Samar’s journey of making a film and on the...

    Quality Product at Reasonable Price

Quality product and reasonably priced. About the story - worth a read. Hilarious & witty though Anuja had done better work earlier. I was unable to put the book down and finished it at one go!! Of course husband had to do a take away too busy reading it and no time for kitchen duties

The laugh riot involving the Pricey Thakur Girls continues

If you haven't read Anuja Chauhan ever, I suggest you start. And start from the beginning. From her first book, The Zoya Factor, to the latest one 'The House that BJ Built', you will evolve as her fan as much as she does as a writer.

Witty like no other, with an unnerving grasp over the irritating personality traits of her characters (basis which part of the country/community they come from), Chauhan takes you on a fun ride with each of her books. The House That BJ Built is no different.

The Thakur Girls are back for more hungama !

This book is the second installment to The Pricey Thakur Girls. Though this is my first book review of one of Anuja Chauhan's titles, I am truly in awe of her style of writing.
Throughout the book, I loved the usage of stereotypes and similes that one can connect well with. Moreover, every character in the book had a distinct and distinguishable personality, akin to a family drama, yet the camaraderie shown between them was flawlessly executed. My favourite bit was the bonhomie between Samar ...

Aur jee, Aur jee, Aur jee, Aur jee

This is why i love reading her books - they are so unapologetic and quintessentially Indian that it almost feels like a guilty pleasure. But oh what pleasure! As always, the plot is full of drama, romance, comedy, tragedy, mystery...and there is something deeply satisfying reading about 4 squabbling sisters who prove blood is thicker than water. There is also something deeply satisfying about a well tied-together book.

If you are looking for a fun read with lots of tadka and heart, this is w...
