Firstly the flipkart service was amazing as always, had it delivered in 3 days and before the mentioned time.
This nicely protects the front element ( glass ) of the lens against dust etc and also if u bump it onto something, u'll just have to replace the filter instead of the whole lens. I did NOT notice any difference in the image quality getting bad or anything of that kind with this filter. It may sometimes result in ghosting or color fringing but thats ok as i personally don't think it matter much or affects the picture in a huge way unless you are a pro.
I hesitated a bit before buying this as it was saying "UV filter" because all i wanted was protection but don't worry this does not affect the images and protects the lens, it also allows my nikon lens cap to fit on there ( yeah u gotta put it on a bit carefully as the cap can touch the filter glass but at the end i manage to get my cap on there)
Overall a great product. I would recommend it to anyone who wants protection for their lenses
P.S. I also got a same 52mm filter for my kit lens. There is no difference other than its size of-course.
Firstly, as some others have already mentioned, the flipkart service was great.
Secondly, from the research I've done, digital cameras do not really struggle with UV light, that was a problem faced by film cameras. However, what this does do is an excellent job of protecting your lens.
This particular product has really saved me a lot of stress (and possibly some money) within the first two weeks of owning it. In a dusty city like Mumbai, if a kid is going to be using the camera or even with friends at parties who don't understand DSLRs and touch the lens (don't want to have their pic taken and put their hand on the lens) it is a must have. I'm much happier cleaning this lens filter rather than the glass on my lens. (hot breath and a spectacles cleaning cloth does the trick)
The only con on this is it is supposed to affect your image quality very slightly, but unless you're a pro or making extremely large sized prints you will not be able to tell the difference. I know I haven't. Plus it's really easy to put on and take off if you want to.
If you own more pricey lenses go for the pro version of this Lens Filter, worth spending a little more for the additional IQ.
I use this filter on my 18-55 IS kit lens and my 55-250 IS lens
I hope this review helps you.
dSLR cameras don't really need UV filter, but lens protection factor is important. Nobody wants their costly lens' front element to be damaged, so a UV filter is the basic protection used since many years.
Hoya manufactures good quality filters, this HMC UV filter is a glass element, unlike some other manufacturers who provide plastic element. It fitted onto my lens smoothly. Lens cap also fitting onto it properly. No issues noticed in photographs at all, it's a nice one.
Cheap and protects my lens if nothing else. Online research has shown me the following:
1. UV filter may filter out UV rays but doesn't necessarily have significant impact on the photograph itself
2. Colors look pretty much the same with any of these UV filters
Hence, Hoya being cheap is a decent buy to protect your lenses...not from UV rays but from scratches and other shocks directly to the lens
I bought this filter recently and am using it on my stock 18-55 and 55-200 Canon lenses. The basic reason i bought this for is the extra protection against scratches and dust.
However, one problem i am facing (not sure if others are too) is that my lens cap does not fight properly after fitting this filter onto my lens. Without this filter, it fits fine.
It acts as a very good lens Protector,Although the photographer doesn't notice any difference in the photos taken. If you are pl...
