HP - 2515 Ink Advantage Multifunction Inkjet Printer

it is a nice printer. i am using it from past two weeks. initially i thought to purchase hp 1050/2050 printer. but i learned that their cartidge is very small (30-40 pages) this means frequent refilling will be needed. then i searched and zeroed on hp 2060 k110a printer at 6000. but shopkeeper shows me this printer 600 rs cheep. it is also ink advantage printer (over 400 pages per cartidge costing less than 500rs). so 5-6 time refilling will mean 1500-2000 pages print at barely 600 rs.

only thing is that this in not a popular printer and its cartidge is not easily available. However as i will be using refilling.. i may need to purchase only two/three cartidge in the printer's lifestye (3 yr). So i do not think this is any big problem.

print quality is good for both color/black print out. set up is easy too.. like all hp printers.

Very Good Printer excellent printing, because of ink level shower you need not to on your computer for the ink levels, but its ink isn't available at any place so you have to refill from a local shop after ink is finished and as after ink refiling problems occur like ink leakage and less quality printing

Although it took 8 days for flipkart to deliver this product but the product is worth waiting and a must buy for personal use/ for those going for occasional printing.
Going by its brand HP which is the market leader in Printing solutions and in this case outshines its competitors owing to its low pricing, easy refiling, customer support and above all economical printing. As described in product specification the printer is manufactured from recycled material so the built is not rugged and the material looks somewhat of cheap quality but looking on its performance it gives above average black printouts and average color prints. Scanning is relatively faster compared to other flatbed scanners in this price range but the results are a bit on the lower side (only 1200 dpi) when the scanned images obtained from canon/ epson (1200*2400 dpi) are compared. Ease of setup and operation with separate buttons for scanning/ copying, enlargement/reduction and b/w & color printing makes it a good choice for those who want simplicity in everything. So, overall a good product to buy instead of wasting money on worthless gadgets!

I bought this printer from a local shop for 4900rs in chennai. This is probably the best printer in this price range(even at the flipkart price of 5.5k). I mostly print text documents, the texts are crisp even at small size fonts the print speed is significantly and obviously slower than laser jets but much faster than other inkjets I've seen . it has border less printing feature , this feature combined with its good color print quality gives you some pro class photo prints(supports photo gloss papers).And you get full cartridges with it not demo cartridges.

Pros:
$. print quality
$. very low cost printing. Company promises 480 prints in black but i got 410 prints for a cartridge price of 450rs
$. very good scanner
$. good quality photos and color prints

Cons:
$. pictures are printed very quickly but texts from pdf are printed very slow so cannot be used for bulk printing( but texts from ms word are printed quicker ), i dont know the technical aspects of that but this happens to me every time.
$. Noisy( Only a problem at nights when its silent and someone is sleeping)

P.S. great for students ( sply biology and biotech students like myself).And guys you can always refill the cartridges for 50 bucks and get 350 or at-least 300+ prints.
OFFICE USERS AND THOSE WITH BULK PRINTING NEEDS PLEASE LOOK SOMETHING ELSE LIKE LASER PRINTERS.

I bought it locally at Hyderabad for 5K. The printer claims to come with full cartridges for B&W and Color but I have hardly printed 15 sheets (MS Word file, A4, containing image tiles for wife's school project) in Plain-Paper-Fast-Draft quality and the cartridge is reporting low-ink. Specifically, Yellow is already out and Cyan looks to be running out too.

Hence I do not think the printer came with full cartridges. 15 pages actual versus 150 pages claimed? What is HP thinking? That printing a little logo on top of page is what color printing is all about?

The printer is fast. Really fast B&W prints. The quality of color prints on plain-paper in Fast-Draft mode itself was so good that we did not feel the need to switch to 'Photo Paper' quality.

Scanning is average. I have scanned in resolution up-to 1200dpi. The resultant scanned image looks smudged (even when file was saved in TIFF). The images show scanning errors (mismatched strips) and sharp and blurry parts in the scanned sheet. Its good for photocopy but definitely unsuitable for archiving.

Ink cartridges are not easily available locally but available online (I ordered at Croma) since they ship for free (versus Rs.500/- min requirement for Flipkart). Perhaps I will try out with refilling or refill at home (instead of getting the cartridge refilled by quacks at Chenoy Trade Center). Frankly, the cartridges are cheap enough to buy new (for low volume users).

The printer did slip and failed to pick up glossy-photo-paper by Desmat. In the 10-15 times I tried to get the feed roller to pick the paper, the roller finally damaged the polished surface of the paper beyond usability. If the problem persists, I may consider getting the printer serviced by the quacks at HP service center.

The default Color / B&W photocopy buttons on the printer do their job well and do not require the printer to be connected to a computer. However, I am using iCopy (for Windows) to control the scanning and printing resolution. This way, I am able to scan at 200 dpi but print in Fast-Draft mode only (huge improved in copying - printing speed). With iCopy, I am also able to scan on the HP but print on my B&W Samsung Laser (in Eco mode).

It's a good average printer with adequate features for it's price. My only complain is that HP now has more models of ink-cartridges than it has printers and there is zero compatibility among the models. HP only has to stop making the ink cartridge available for my printer to become an expensive brick.

So in the near future, I am probably looking at forced upgrade by HP.
