HP DM1-4003AU Netbook

I was searching for a netbook to replace my 17 inch laptop with good capabilities like multitasking, photoshop, lightroom I fell in love when I saw this updated dm1

My filters were budget 20-25k,portable,lightweight,multitasking, good speakers. After reading CNET,Engadget reviews and Amazon reviews I bought this laptop.There is no other clear competitor to this one except the new Sony new 11.6 with same config ( but sound quality sucks )

Pros:
1. AMD fusion dual core ( Since last 4 years I am using AMD
processor the graphic experience is awesome). For the same
capabilities you spend more if you want Intel processor just
because of brand name.
2. 6320 is far better than 6310
3. 64 bit architecture.. Out of my 4 yrs exp with 64 bit and 32
bit I can clearly say its very fast compared to 32 bit arch
4. Beats audio - Beats audio experience is incredible
5. HP is always known for good keypads. Same is with this one
Its full keypad and very comfortable to type
6. Multitasking - I used with 4 chrome tabs, 1 file copy in
background, 1 movie in foreground still it doesn't hang
7. Screen resolution is amazing - 1366x768 is incredible. Play
HD prints to see the full capability of the system
8. Amazing battery life. I am getting more than 7 hours now

Cons
1. It attracts fingerprints (not that visible though)
2. Comes with lot of crapware (Uninstall all of them it boosts
your system performance significantly)

Finally yesterday I installed windows 8 consumer preview 64 bit. The HD capabilities of windows 8 is awesome. This machine is very fast with Windows8. Since then no turn back to windows 7

This machine is worth each penny. It gives the performance of the present available ultrabooks at the price of netbook

Caveat
> The processor is a dual core 1.65GHz. So do not expect swift performance. But, its still fast enough. (Was using a Core2Duo 2.1GHz and could feel the difference)
> If you feel RAM is not enough, add another one in the free slot. (Max 8GB allowed)
> No DVD drive but, external one will do

The positives
> Good battery backup (Reason small display and that too LED) Main benefit is because of auto brightness adjustment yes, just like in top end smartphones.
> LED HD display is great
> Beats edition audio is wonderful
> Fantastic graphics
> Of course the size of the unit is small and very easy to carry around
> Full size island style keyboard is good to use
> Track pad is responsive and one can change the settings as per requirement
> Quickweb is a big gain
> Evernote, Skype and Windows Live Essentials come pre-installed

The negatives
> The front cover is prone to fingerprints. Always have a soft cloth in your bag
> Takes some time to get used to gestures and multi-touch in track pad. Its not that responsive for multi-touch and gestures alone.
> Its too light. Be careful when handing it.
> Loads of games come pre-installed.
> Windows 7 Home Basic, customization of UI is not possible

Summary
Value for money is the phrase to describe. If expectation is to do casual browsing, document and spreadsheet handling and some office work, happily add it to your cart. In addition you also get a good audio-visual experience.

hp has pulled off great netbook with processing power equivalent to full featured notebook.
Dual core APU E-450 with ati radeon 6320M graphics gives capability of hd video playback on its excellent screen also has the ablitiy to play modern games.
Hp beats audio gives crystal clear audio with its stereo speakers.Supringly hdd comes with fast 7500 rpm spindle speed which gives fast boot time and faster operations.Battery life isnt bad either gives just over 6 hours making your great portable companion.
With windows home 7 and microsoft office installed out of the box makes sure you are ready for work and play.
Its highly recommended netbook be it design or perfomance of the laptop you will be delighted with this one.

well,this machine is a better replacement for pricey ultraportables out ther...after using this for a month it satisfies me.A-450 is fast n snappy. very thin n highly portable.rather than going for a lower end laptop at this price go for a higher end netbook like this...value for money!!

Very nice laptop.Battery life is very good(almost 5-6 hrs).It supports graphic card which helps while playing NFE or other graphics game.If you are looking for a laptop which can be used for home as well as for office purpose..then its worth buying.The only thing (ofcourse that was not a problem) you will find that it does not have dvd player.But you i brought it from outside.But i have used it for 1-2 times...so if that is not a problem for you..Then go for it...
