New king in netbooks

This is just another great experience from flipkart. Had my laptop in my hand in just 24 hrs. Neatly packed. Best price a retailer could offer. Kudos Flipkart for this service.
So, Five star for FLIPKART & team.

Regarding the product experience,

Pros,
1. Head turning design from HP(metal brush finishing makes the difference).
2. AMD-E350
3. Keypad
4. very portable
5. Its a do machine.
6. An awesome HP carry bag as a freebie.

Cons
1. Trackpad(very bad), actually after few hours of usage, my hand cuffs wer paining. Hence, its advisable to switch to mouse rather hurting yourself.

Since HP DM1z 4010us is coming in future with AMD E-450, we can wait and see for a new touchpad implementation.

Didn't buy it from FK but but providing my view for reference purpose.
Its the best "bang for the buck" laptop at this price.
For someone who is not a power user (in my humble opinion many people are not power users) this is THE thing. Its tonnes better than the Atom. Of course, may not match the higher series laptops but for daily usage for email, MS Office, surfing internet... its just great.
Pros: Good screen, Good keyboard, Good battery backup (subjective though), Good pricing.
Cons: I can think of one only.. no back lit keyboard.

Bottom Line: For the price, its the best....

Ultraportable but at a cost!

I have been using the DM1 for about a two months now. Its a great laptop and is super light. Its certainly a step-up from the tiny 10.1 inch screen netbooks.

Pros:
- Really lightweight and portable.
- Excellent design and form factor.
- Better than 10.1 inch netbooks which are priced just a little bit less than this one.
- Easy access to the components such as RAM, HDD making upgrades a breeze.
- Comes with Windows 7.
- Excellent keyboard (albeit with some kinks in it).
- Good battery backup.
- Sharp screen.
- A good 3 x USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port.

- A good 3 x USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port.

Cons:
- The fan is noisy and the back heats up a lot.
- If set at full brightness, the screen though very sharp takes some time to come up to its full brightness level.
- Though I've read great reviews about the 1.6 GHz E350 APU by AMD which is the processor in this one, its just not meant for HD playback. HD movies stutter and halt while playback. More than once I have had to switch to my regular laptop or my desktop for this.
- The Function keys are reversed and this is very annoying. But this can be changed from the BIOS.
- Home and End keys are Fn-activated and this is very annoying.
- Cannot add a different WiFi card such as the one from Intel. The BIOS refuses to accept it.
- Lack of a SIM slot for 3G access.

What is it meant for: Ultra lightweight laptop for people constantly on the move checking their emails, doing some odd MS Office work on the go and general web browsing and surfing.

What is it not meant for: HD movie playback, gaming and any processor intensive work (this instantly cranks up the fan speed and it noise levels and the heat levels).

For a few more bucks you can add a 7200 RPM HDD and another 2GB RAM module for an incremental step-up in performance.

One of the Best new generation hp laptops

This is a incredibly handy laptop that is very affordable too. It has a dual core Athlon II processor with discrete graphics Ati Radeon 6310M. Can handle light gaming to 720p movies and usual browsing/office usage. Does become heated on prolonged heavy usage. Cannot handle blu-ray movies, i.e 1080p. The display stutters. Does get a bit laggy when stacked with running applications. The processor is faster than an Intel Atom which makes it preferable to any other netbooks. And though it is bigger than 10.1 which is the regular netbook size. It is quite handy and 11.6 is quite comfortable to carry as well as more preferable to 10.1 when it comes to watching videos and the sort. I could sum up it as:

Pros:
1. Affordable and more powerful than normal 10.1 inch netbooks with a little difference in pricing.
2. Processor is good enough to handle any amount of office usage or browsing, to even light gaming and 720p video viewing.
3. The build quality is good enough and the looks are quite an improvement, with the design similar to bigger pavilion variants.
4. The chiclet keyboard is very handy and responsive, making typing experiance pleasant.
5. Excellent battery life exceeding normal laptop range and matching or even surpassing netbook standards with a regular 6 1/2 hours at the minimum.
6. The upper lid enclosing the screen can be tilted to 180 degrees permitting any sort of viewing angles.
7. The screen is bright and clear making video watching a great experiance.
8. Excellent sound all thanks to that Altec Lansing Speakers on board. Great for watching movies on loud speaker. Clear and Loud.

Cons:
1. Even though the processor is more powerful than a netbook, it is still not upto par with the modern ivy-bridge processors in entry level laptops of similar price range.
2. The Discrete Graphics on the product though it handles mediocre graphic needs, is not good enough for any sort of serious gaming, and is absolutely unable to handle 1080p videos without stuttering.
3. The trackpad below the keyboard is simply a killer with a complete lack of response in certain cases, and also makes typing with it activated a horror. But helpfully an external mouse can solve the case as the trackpad can be kept locked.
4. Could have included the fingerprint scanner below with lots of space to spare below the keyboard.
5. Heating issues on prolonged gaming or other heavy usage
6. Really low on memory with just 2Gb unless u expand further later on, which kills the affordability factor to a bit. Seeing that a lot of ~25k priced 15inch laptops these days offer 4-6 Gb of ram.
7. No optical drive, Blu-ray or even DVDR.

Altogether, it's quite an affordable entry level laptop. But the usability and size makes it more or less just-a-little-bit-more-than-a-netbook. If you're not into gaming or serious high quality movie watching; then this laptop is absolutely for you. Any amount of browsing and mediocre photo editing and office usage goes without any hassles. Even watching 720p movies with some friends is quite a great experiance with that good sounding speakers and quite clear screen. But if u plan on watching that new Blu-Ray movie that you got just last week, or if you're looking to do some serious animation; look elsewhere. This is just a overgrown netbook and not yet a fully formed powerful laptop. Hope this helped.
