After considering all parameters and features, it can be said that it's a nice phone...

I do have Motorola defy and the device is awesome. and next wanted to buy one good and cute to hold in my hands and in my pocket (i have rooted the defy and installed several ROMs, and later the defy has become slow).

And the reviews of this device helped me a lot to chose this. But after looking at high pixel density mobiles - 'explorer' will not give a WOW feeling. Device is smooth as per the specs. Though the internal memory is low - i am not going rely this for games.

No doubt, htc is the best phone maker in the world. All the phones of htc are good looking, durable, very appealing, attractive, distinctive, truely user friendly, sleek, the awesome build quality, blah blah.. Htc in your hand states your personality too!
This phone is the cheapest varient of the most expensive phones maker. Htc tried to reach the entry level market with this phone and yeah! it succeded. For proof you can compare any phones under this range (expcept chinese phones and micromax, karbonn), for example galaxy y, y duos, nokia asha, sony xperia tipo, even galaxy ace, xperia E. Galaxy Y and many galaxies under 10000, cant play games like fruit ninja, NFS, Football, Temple run, CS, Big Buggy Blitz, but this cute little phone does, because of its Adreno 200 GPU.

Pros:
1. Awesome build quality
2. Intutive user friendly UI (Gingerbread OS covered by HTC sense UI)better than Samsung Touch wiz and far better than Xperia Timescape.
3. Brilliant sound quality, given headphones are average quality but better than samsung.
4. Vibrant touch sense and Bright clear screen
5. Long battery life for average user
6. Eye catching and cute design, no one can say its an ugly or box phone like galaxy Y
7. Supports any game like temple run, angry birds, Asphalt. (Not supported in phones of galaxy like Galaxy y, galaxy pop, Ace)
8. Easily manageble and handy widgets from htc sense
9. The plus point is the htc keyboard which is so big and easy typing, again better than Galaxy series, xperia and android keyboard
10. Smooth touch flow
11. Better screen resolution than Galaxy y
12. Though galaxy y has 800 mHZ processor this has only 600 mHZ, but this phone is faster than galaxy Y
13. Light weight
14. Can find any coloured back covers easily
15. Great quality headphones and chargers plus data cable like that of iphone
16. The wifi range is great than any phones or laptops
17. HSDPA speed is 15.7 mbps, greater than anyone under 15000
18. Bluetooth is version 3.0 so its faster

20. Easy and fast in Multi tasking like bigger phones

Cons:
There are few cons like:
1. Internal memory is low, heavy users and downloaders can feel this.
2. Camera quality is low. Though its 3.15 mp, it's not good as the 3.15 mp of Samsung Wave 525 or Galaxy ace.
3. No front facing camera, though its 3G
4. Heavy users might look forward for Newer version of Android but its limited upto Gingerbread 2.3.5 but same as Xperia U, Galaxy Y, Galaxy Ace, htc wildfire
5. Speaker produces small sound
6. Low RAM space, though good in multi tasking but starts to lag if multiple programs are run at same time for longer period

Guys if you try to ROOT this phone it will changed into a brick ... i am damn sure ... becoz i lost my friends HTC Explorer by rooting that ... A safety process installed for phone the phone from rooting ... if u root the phone it will void ur warranty.. and also it will burst the HTC software privacy.... If u root that you will never back track to original rom...
Its a best phone for entry level....
IF YOU ROOT ANYWAY EVEN YOUR PHONE CANT BE FIXED WITH HTC SERVICE CENTER GUY ALSO...U WILL STUCK ON "BOOT LOOP" PROBLEM...
So just use that's all ... Dont Try to ROOT ROOT ROOT ROOT.

explorer is my first smart phone, i feel so happy that it is too good.camera,processor,..every bit works good, and battery also last for a day, as this is my first smart phone might this may reason.if flash added this would be the best one in the android market.value for money.just go for it.

Guys, I've been using this phone since 10 months now, so I have a pretty good idea about the functioning of this device.
Let's start off with the specs and its Pros and Cons-
The device comes with a 600MHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor, Adreno 200 GPU and 512 MB of RAM out of which only 238 MB is usable by the user. The processor, even though it might seem super fast in the beginning, will start showing its true colors after you fill it with apps. The phone lags horribly. Imagine Temple Run 2 taking 1.3 minutes just to start!! And after that, it's pretty much impossible to play the game due to lags.

The device contains only 90MB internal Memory! The biggest Drawback! Even if you send your apps to sd card, a part of it always takes some space in the internal memory (some can't even be sent to sd card) and over a period of time, it'll be full! Not more than 30 apps, I say. The phone annoys me with its "Low Memory" notification every now and then.

The display is pretty decent. A 3.2" TFT screen with a Pixel Density of about 180ppi. The picture quality is sharp. You won't have any issues with that. You can play 720p videos with any problem provided it is in mp4 or some other format which the inbuilt player can play. If you use MX Player to play other 720 formats such as Mkv, it'll be full of lags distorting the quality entirely.

The calling facility in the phone is good. The sound is crisp and clear. No issues with connectivity. The speakers are fairly good so no issues while listening Music or playing Videos. Online videos also play without any noticeable problem.

Next comes the Battery life. The device stays alive for 16-20 hrs with heavy usage(wi-fi, calls, games, 50% brightness) and can give you 1.5 days with fairly low usage. P.S. Install Juice Defender. With out it, the battery life is extremely poor.

The device comes with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread out of the box which is not up-gradable. You'll need to root the device in order to get the latest version.

When i bought this phone back in June 2012, it was one of the best devices in the market under 10k. But now the tables have turned. Now under 10k, there is so much variety and that too with double specs of Explorer. I strongly suggest you to buy some other phone instead of Explorer. It's time is over.

If you are looking for solidly built android phone around 7k, then do consider HTC Explorer. The navigation and operation is good. Value for money. Great sound level. Lumia 520, Windows phone 8, which is 2.5k more than this, is a very close competitor.

Received the delivery on 15th April, 2013. Excellent packing and prompt delivery. Kudos to Flipkart. If you are a first time smartphone buyer and on a budget, just buy the Explorer right away. Most of the basic useful apps in the Google Play run on Android 2.1 and above. Loved the display. Crisp and responsive even at this price. My device doesn't have the rubberised back, being manufactured in Jan 2013 and to save costs. It feels good though.
Don't be fooled by the 600MHz processor. It's a mean processor and ran Dead Trigger on my device without any noticeable lag. Need i say more? After using it for a day and a half i reset it to factory settings and boom.. i had 122 MB of internal memory. Initially i opened all the apps provided by default and they took a lot of space and weren't that useful. After the Reset i haven't opened unnecessary apps to save space. App2SD is an excellent app to move downloaded apps to SD card. Though Whatsapp cannot be moved. File Expert app to access and modify files on SD card.
The HTC Sense UI is fantastic. Any day better to any Indian mobile brands or even Samsung.
Don't just go for latest Android versions or the processor. Its the overall experience that matters.

I'm using it for past four months. my main usage is connecting net and small gaming. Battery withstands for one full day.
Portable hotspot helps us to connect the laptop to mobile internet through wireless works with awesome speed. touch sensitivity is very good when compared to sony, nokia and Samsung. So far so good... No doubt it is a Very good mobile in this range...............

Good mobile in this range. good battery backup after heavy use also (1.5 day). playing temple run (little prob) , subway surfers (very nice on htc). able to do all my social networking. Touch is marvelous. Overall satisfied.
