HTC Desire Z

HTC Desire Z is one of the better phones out there and I will rate it as one of the best phones currently if you looking out for QWERTY keypad in a smart phone. I will rate following as its PROS:
- Keypad: definitely gives it a major . dont forget that if you using the keypad, you will get the whole of 3.7 inches of the screen for your browsing. That's actually better than the 4 inches of touch phone with a portion of screen taken by your on-screen keyboard. Keypad has keys spread out evenly and gives a comfortable typing space even for touch-screen-phobic folks.
- Android: I bought this phone for wifey and I currently use iPhone. However, I personally felt that Android is a better OS with a wider range of applications. I dont have to constantly lookout for *jailbroken* applications and am currently pumped up for doing some development tasks on Android myself without bothering too much about App Stores.
- Connectivity: I read in one of the reviews that Airtel doesn't provide 3G on the handset. Maybe that was the initial feedback on the device, however currently we have activated an Airtel 3G plan on the handset and it works seamlessly.
- GPS: GPS is flawless and is integrated with Google Maps. Works like a charm and maps are pre-loaded. So even if you aren't connected to Internet, it's easy to get directions on the move (something which is missing from iPhone, unless you have a copy of battery drainer application - MapMyIndia)

CONS:
- Accessories: It's very easy to find accessories for iPhone or maybe a Galaxy too since they are much more widely used phones. But on the hindsight, the plus point is that phone is not as common as one of the other smart phones (read - iPhone/Galaxy) ;)
- Battery Life: Yeah, yeah. Not too great. Depending on use can last an average of 1 day. This is not such a major negative for me, since the usb port is usually handy and phone is connected to laptop (for syncing/etc) for quite sometime.

Summary:
This seems to be a great phone for people who need to access their emails/chats/social networking/etc frequently while on move mainly due to an amazingly well designed keypad. Some other folks mayn't agree (as the keypad gives it a little bulk). But I know that there is a lot of population out there who dont like to type on a touch screen on a regular basis and this phone fits the bill. If you don't have that as a concern, Incredible S and Desire HD maybe a notch better for you.
Either way, HTC desire* is a great series and is definitely worth the price.

Additional Note:
- Service from Flipkart was exceptional. I am so happy that we have a site like flipkart.com (analogous to amazon.com from west), which provides such a service at a reasonable price. I got the phone delivered within 2 business days and the packaging made sure that phone dint even move 1 inch during the transit. Thank you Flipkart! :)

This is a great phone which combines the best of touch screen and full qwerty key board. A bit bulky, battery life on the lower side (needs charging every night if you are on the move, or else keep it plugged to your laptop usb). But amazing touch screen experience and great for browsing on the go. A number of smart features in the phone.

A major bug with android phones that exists in this phone too - it deletes all text messages automatically every now and then. Suffered from this twice (all texts from last two years - transferred from my nokia - got deleted. But now have installed sms backup and thankfully messages are intact since then.

I got the phone in 4 days. thanks flipkart!!.

On using it, am in love with the htc Sense UI.
I was using 5310xm, comapred to it, Desire Z have low sound volume, and the speaker quality is less.

Rest everything is superb and its an amazing phone. :)

This model is very good. Those who dont like to use a heavy model, shud not buy this one.
