A handset that looks/feels new even after 1 month! Even after a month you discover some new "hidden" stuff everyday. Android rocks. As of now android marketplace has fewer apps than iphone market, but at the rate it is increasing android marketplace will catch up soon. One thing for sure ... this is 100 times better than iPhone if you are not after the "glamor" quotient. You can find thousands of comparisons how it is better than iPhone in the web, but I will mention only one. Have you ever seen a customized iPhone homescreen? It all looks same. Here you can customize as much as you can!!! And I mean that.
One comment regarding the model: The model I got from flipkart has a SLCD, not AMOLED. AMOLED supply is less at present and HTC decided to switch to SLCD. They are equally good though. And SLCD is little bit better for battery power saving.
HTC Desire sees a price drop, now only for INR 15K?
htc desire original inr 15000 HTC Desire sees a price drop, now only for INR 15K?The original HTC Desire seems have seen a big price drop in the Indian market and is now selling for just 15,000. But this pricing seems to be only limited to Saholic.com, which a recent Spice group venture. We are expecting other retailers to follow suit.
If you were looking to go for this, then it is the right time for you. To remind you of the specs, HTC Desire comes with Android 2.2, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, HTC Sense, 5MP camera and 3.7 inch display.
My phone was delivered safely on time. Though the packaging was not sophisticated, it was safe and water proof. I will shop again at flipkart with confidence.
The phone is quite good, one of the best android phones in the market. So far so good, haven't experienced the dreaded rebooting problem yet (but then its just been more than a week since i started using).
The phone's touchscreen is quite responsive and smooth. I don't like the back button. One of the reasons for buying a touchscreen phone is, well, the convenience of a gentle touch to accomplish things. Not only is the back button a physical button, its not that responsive either. And most of the time the search function gets activated (back and search share the same button, kind of like 2 ends to the same button). Its pretty frustrating. I used to loathe the designer of the button a lot, but nowadays have got used to living with it. And what a mess, the call history/dialler piece of software is. On both these fronts, my previous X6 was way too good.
The images are sharp and bright. Usability in sunlight is bad, but then yet to see that affecting me, rarely do i have to use it in full sunlight.
Sense is pretty neat. Also downloaded quite a few apps from the Android marketplace.
The phone is super fast. Web pages load in a flash and there is no noticeable lag when it comes to routine use. X6 wasn't that way. Even getting to applications would take some time, surfing was slower too.
I am yet to upgrade to 2.2 and root it. But that can wait. Overall, a satisfying buy.
I ordered my HTC Desire online on flipkart.com and in 2 days flat, the mobile was delivered at my place. No octroi charges extra, no hidden charges. I would give flipkart.com a 10/10 for all this....
Now, something about the phone..... Rather I should not be calling the HTC Desire a mere phone. It's surely something more than that!!! The amazing touch responsiveness, the UIs, the in-built apps.... the list goes on & on & on & on......
The only drawback is the battery. I was used to a basic NOKIA phone earlier & that went on for 2 days without charging. But for HTC Desire, I always make sure to carry the charger with me. Practically, the battery drains out by day end, atleast with whatever usage that I do. One good part is that the battery gets charged pretty fast too!!!
Overall, an excellent phone. I would give this 9/10.
I just figured out that HTC Desire HD is now available at a price slightly higher than the price that I bought my HTC Desire for. And the price of HTC Desire has now dropped by almost Rs.3000/-
Anyways, this will not rob away all the happiness that my HTC Desire has given me, quietly brilliant!!!
Great phone. Its one of those gadgets that you are proud to own. The best part that I like about is its user interface and how it integrates contacts across Phone Book, Gmail and Facebook. That way all my phone contacts have photos from their profiles on Facebook once I link the 2. Such a simple brilliant way of making the process seamless. Also love the way all the small details have been thought through to make it a great experience to use the phone. I love typing e-mail on the phone as its so easy and user-friendly. Love the auto-complete feature.
Now the bad parts:
- Battery life sucks and deteriorates badly after 6-9 months. One can barely use the phone for more than 2-3 hours if one is continuously checking and replying to e-mail
- The speaker of the phone is quite poor and one cannot use it as a speakerphone
- Lastly very poor quality reception of radio FM
This is my second review after using the phone for more than 1.5 years. Initially it was all good but within a year I had probl...
