The Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 is an Android phone that comes with a modest price tag and packs in all the features of a high end mobile phone. This full touch handset runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system and uses Google's stock design as its user interface. The Ideos X5 is powered by an 800 MHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor with 512 MB of RAM.

The Android device has been endowed with a 3.8-inch TFT LCD multi-touchscreen, having resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and support for 262 K colors. Imaging is taken care of by the 5 megapixel camera with LED flash mounted on the back of the phone, which has auto focus and geo-tagging features. Design

The Ideos U8800 is a premium looking phone with a rubberized soft touch back, which makes it easier for you to hold the phone. The solid construction of the handset is aesthetically highlighted with the metallic rim that goes around the front perimeter of the phone.

A 3.5 mm jack and the power button are situated on the top edge of the Ideos, while the bottom edge houses the micro-USB charging port. The left panel of the phone accommodates the volume rocker. Below the screen you will find the regular soft control keys of home, menu, back and search. The U8800 comes loaded with regular sensors such as accelerometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.

Storage and Battery

You can expand the memory of the handset to up to 32 GB using an external microSD card. The card is located under the back cover, beside the SIM card slot. The Ideos X5 uses a standard 1500 mAh Li-Po battery that serves talk time of 8 hours in 2G and 6 hours in 3G networks.

Connectivity and Features

You can connect to the Internet on the Ideos U8800 seamlessly via 3G and Wi-Fi. For file transferring purpose, the Huawei phone is bestowed with Bluetooth and USB functionalities. With the Android browser onboard and Adobe Flash 10.1 support, you can enjoy PC-like web browsing on your Ideos X5.
