Human And Economic Geography is meant to serve as a reference book for pre-university students as well as for general readers with an interest in the subject.
Summary Of The Book
Human And Economic Geography is a comprehensive text, written primarily for the pre-university students. The emphasis of the text is on the human and economic problems and conditions prevalent in the developing countries. The examples provided in the book provide a regional standpoint for the purpose of illustrating general points. Despite adopting a regional approach, the reference text presents to its readers the conditions prevalent across the world, mainly for the purpose of enabling comparisons to be drawn between the advanced and developing countries.
As they read the book, the students will come across various aspects of human and economic geography. To help them consolidate their learning, a number of exercises and questions are provided throughout the text. The book features two sections, Special Topics and Discussion Points, which aid its readers and students in learning. The economic activity changes from place to place, depending on the human and environmental conditions in that region. The Special Topics section focuses on informing the reader of the factors that influence the distribution patterns. Whereas particular topics or problems are elaborated upon in the Discussion Points section.
At the end of each chapter are questions that have previously appeared in examinations. And key phrases and words are printed in bold for the sake of being distinguished from the general body of matter. Both SI and Imperial systems of units are used in the book.
Human And Economic Geography is made up of seventeen chapters, which include Agriculture, Settlement, Cereals, Vegetables and Fruits, Population and Human Diversity, Industrial crops, Beverages and Sugar, Fishing, Livestock, Forestry and Forest Industries, Electricity, Petroleum, Coal, Transport and Communications, International Trade, Manufacturing Industry, and Metals and Minerals.
