  • Description

The Hundred-Foot Journey is a delightful novel that reveals the secret workings of the world of French haute cuisine. It is written by Richard C. Morais and has been adapted into a major motion picture.

    Summary of the Book

Hassan Haji is narrating his life’s journey. He is a middle-aged chef, recalling the shy beginnings of his family restaurant in Mumbai, and his existing stylish restaurant in Paris. He has now conquered the narrowed-down world of French haute cuisine. It all started when Hassan’s dynamic family was obligated into a picaresque journey across Europe after they ran into a tragedy. They settled down in a distant French village of Lumiere, right opposite to the famous Madam Mallory! The next few days saw many-a-cultural mishap and hysterical happenings. But eventually the grand French chef, at Madam Mallory, finds to her dismay that the young man in the low-priced Indian restaurant, is a superior chef in reality!

    Enthralling and Extremely Sweet.

This book is coherent and very, very different from other novels. It takes you road tripping, from India to Europe. The descriptions focus on food and travel. However, at the same time, this book encompasses a solid story of a Muslim Family of a simple lineage. It's simple, with fascinating twists. Lovely! Definitely one of my favourites!

    tiresome journey

One is bound to get tired of reading it after reading half of it.I didn't have the courage to read the rest of it.Total waste of time. The author himself doesn't seem to be clear why he wrote the book. You will feel good in the beginning but some where in the middle you are bound to ask a question to yourself that why are you reading this book, what does the author want to say, what will be the climax. The book is filled with irritating unnecessary details.
