The Hunger Games Box Set (Set Of 3 Books) is a collection of the three novels of The Hunger Games series: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay.
The trilogy follows the story of a girl called Katniss Everdeen. It is set in the nation of Panem, which is located in the ruins of what was once North America. Panem has a metropolis, The Capitol, and this metropolis is surrounded by twelve districts, all of which are kept on a tight leash. Every district is deemed to send a boy-girl duo to participate in the annual Hunger Games organized by The Capitol. The boys and girls sent for the games are between the ages of twelve and eighteen, and the so-called ‘game’ is actually a fight to the death, aired live on television.
In the first book, The Hunger Games, a sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen replaces her sister in The Hunger Games. Although she has plenty of experience in the art of survival, winning is an art that she needs to master, and fast. The book goes on to describe Katniss’ fight for survival in detail, and her eventual triumph.
The second book, Catching Fire, follows the lives of Katniss and Peeta after they manage to survive The Hunger Games despite all odds. Their victory, which was achieved by defying the rules of The Capitol, doesn’t taste as sweet as they would have liked it to be, because they have unwittingly become the face of an uprising against The Capitol. The Capitol sets out to seek its revenge.
In the third and final book, Mockingjay, the fight rages on as people try to wrest control from President Snow and The Capitol. Katniss’ friends, family, and the other residents of District 12 are in danger, and Katniss must decide how far she can stick to the cause when so many lives are at stake.
The books from this series were all bestsellers and did phenomenally well. The film adaptation of the book was released on March 23, 2012, along with a role-playing video game called The Hunger Games Adventures on Facebook. By then, the books in print had crossed more than twenty-six million in sales.

I had preordered this boxed set and after it was delivered to me, I noticed that it became out of stock in less than a week of its arrival. No surprises! Because this is one of the best series for young adults. It is way better than twilight. Katniss is not lazy and coward like Bella. She is brave and is willing to die for others. I also got a T-Shirt free with this set. But people making late purchases won't get it.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins are one awesome series... The three books keep you riveted to your seat, providing a sense of actually witnessing all the action. For all Young Adventurers and Secret Explorers, here is a chance to step into the clothes of Katniss Everdeen, a young teenager from Panem, the future of North America.
It is packed with twists and turns and edge-of-the-seat excitement. Suzanne Collins really gets the exact action of an adolescent mind, when Katniss finds herself thrust into the wide world of Panem and the hubbub of the Capitol, after almost starving in the outskirts of District Eleven.
The Story is heart-rending at places, and you might find yourself literally torn in two, as Katniss teeters on the brink of indecisiveness. The headstrong, spirited girl is just what the story needs, to be perfect... and that is why I liked the books all the more. Unlike most adventure novels of the times, it has a girl as the main protagonist, giving the series an edge over the rest.
I would recommend all Young Adults to go for the books, as they are really good... One word of caution, here : Do not ignore a good book just because it has a girl at the lead. You might really enjoy it... So don't let your prejudice make you keep it down!
Verdict: It's a 9 on 10 from a sparingly-complementing Teenager... What more could you want?
It took me less than a week to finish all the three books of the series, that includes Skipping office a day and a few nights spent awake. It usually takes me a good time to complete a novel, but not these, all the three books were so hard to put down.
Really loved the short, concise and edgy writing style of Collins. Even though it is mostly branded as an 'Young Adult' book series, I feel anyone who likes fast paced novels would definitely love this.
I have pre-ordered the box-set from flipkart and the delivery was as prompt as ever, the quality was brilliant and I had received a surprise gift too! a Hunger Games Tee-shirt!
First of all, great work by Flipkart in delivering the books so quickly and efficiently! Since I had pre-ordered the set, I even got a cool Hunger Games t-shirt. I got the set back in April, but just finished reading the books a few days back.
Many people are comparing two highly popular female characters and saying that Katniss is a better role model than Bella Swan for young girls. But I have to disagree on the fact that Katniss steadily deteriorates into the Bella Swan territory after every book, so much so that by the final book, she is positively dreadful and boring while Bella Swan's character was always compelling in some way in every situation no matter what you think.
The setting of the story isn't exactly original, but it holds up quite well. Read 'Battle Royale' which is much more thoughtful, well written and definitely not for the squeamish or young kids.
The first two books in The Hunger Games Trilogy are exciting, fast paced and it has its heart in the right place. The setting, the characters come off as realistic, something that could happen should an apocalypse happen or the brainless reality shows take over the world viewership! However in "The Mockingjay", Suzanne Collins loses it and writes a highly annoying and senseless end to what could have been a great series! The love triangle seems absolutely tacky by this point!
I later learned that by the time Suzanne had begun writing the finale, she had already sold the movie rights and hence was set to make money no matter how bad the last book was. But, whatever my gripe with the final book may be, I'd recommend this series to anybody who likes dystopian tales.
Hunger Games is just no another novel that you'd like, but a different and innovative story which is sure to make the series unputdownable.
The book is about Katniss Everdeen, a girl from distict 12 (You'll know what that is) and being only 16, strives hard to keep her family comprising the mother and her younger sister alive. She is the man of the house and well, I wouldn't dare reveal the suspense.
The print is good enough. Trust me, if there is fault with the book (which is highly unlikely bucause you can blindly trust Flipkart) you'd forgive them because the story is just that good.
The first book is totally awesome.
the second one gets a bit boring in the beginning but the story gets better later of course.
The third book, the last in the trilogy also is a bit slow-paced in the beginning, but you surely you're totally up for a big surprise from this one. And of course, who would want to miss the series' ending?
Most of us will definitely experience a book-hangover after finishing the series (Happened with many people I know)and you can't help but talk about this book for days.
In short a very good buy.
Cheers to Hunger Games, Susan Collins and your to-be-beloved Katnis Everdeen!
PS: I also got a free T-Shirt. You may get luck as well!
