I’ve Got Your Number is a chick lit novel in which Poppy Wyatt’s wedding preparations, not to mention her life, are thrown into disarray when she loses her precious engagement ring and her mobile phone, all in a single afternoon.
Summary Of The Book
In I’ve Got Your Number, the protagonist, Poppy Wyatt, is in serious trouble after she loses her engagement ring and her cellphone, all on the same day.
Poppy is feeling on top of the world as she is engaged to her Mr. Right, Magnus Tavish, and the wedding preparations are underway. She is all set to meet Magnus’ parents.
Unfortunately for her, her life is turned upside down in one disastrous afternoon. She loses her engagement ring and her mobile phone within a short span of time. It seems like her dream of living ‘happily ever after’ with Magnus will remain just a dream after all.
Just when things are looking bleak, she stumbles upon an abandoned mobile phone while frantically searching for her own. The phone seems like a godsend as she now has a phone number on which the hotel authorities can contact her in case her phone is found.
The plan seems perfect, except, the actual owner of the phone, Sam Roxton, doesn’t think so. He is particularly vexed that Poppy has taken the liberty of reading all his messages and meddling in his personal affairs.
Amidst all this chaos, Poppy tries to keep up with the wedding preparations and hides the loss of her engagement ring from her future in-laws. Things take an even more hilarious twist as Poppy and Sam mess with each other’s lives while trying to wrest control of their own. Little does Poppy know that the biggest surprise of her life awaits her.
I’ve Got Your Number was published in the year 2012.

In a first glance I was doubtful about finishing it soon as it’s a large book with 381 pages. Generally you can find many insignificant things in long novels but believe me, in this book, not a single page was boring.
I must say Sophie Kinsella is an author with a very entertaining, humorous and witty style of writing. I liked the new and unique storyline. It’s basically a sweet love story of Poppy and Sam.
I so liked the very well crafted characters of Poppy Waytt and Sam Roxton. The humour in this novel is naturally amusing. I found myself laughing many a times while reading the book, especially in the first half. The texting sessions between Sam and Poppy are very interesting.
Overall, for me, it was a very entertaining, engrossing delightful read! Highly recommended for all the girls/women who like contemporary women/romance fiction.
Like all chick-lit, you know where this book is going and how the characters are going to end up! But like all chick-lit, why not just enjoy the ride that the author offers!
I enjoyed this book, almost as much as i enjoyed Meg Cabot's Boy Meets Girl (my prime chick-lit recommendation). Poppy Wyatt is a spunky character and relatable. I don't have much to say about Sam, i didn't care much for him, you're obviously going to root for Poppy and him, but the last part was downright "awww"worthy! There were some excellent jokes in the book and it's not everyday that a book has me laughing out loud. The peripheral characters are also fun.
Yes, chick-lit requires no thinking, has no depth and is not literature which will stand the test of time but once in a while it's fun to escape into the happy little bubble they provide.
Sophie Kinsella's fans who eagerly await her new releases will not be able to rave about Poppy Wyatt, the heroine of her latest book, I've got your number. But Poppy, like Kinsella's other heroines, is lovable and human. She is confused about the feeling of inferiority that her future in laws inspire in her. But finding a mobile phone in a bin changes her life, and brings into it Sam, the business mogul who does not believe even in sending replies, leave alone smileys.
It is the beginning of a 'forward message' adventure for Poppy and Sam. The book has a number of interesting characters that add to the tale. The narrative is engaging, though the plot is predictable. It is a simple read, but it is not Kinsella at her best. That is for Becky and the Shopoholic books.
hoorraayyy ! Sophie Kinsella is back...with a bang !
I've always adored SK's book and found them utterly engrossing. This one is just fab. There will be moments when you'll have to peer around to check whether you can laugh out loud or not. Every line is a masterpiece and the best thing is that the story never drags. You'd find yourself turning pages after pages with a big grin decorating your face. I couldn't leave this novel for a minute ! There are moments when you are going to stifle your giggle because you know you do same thing.
Highly recommended !
Didn't think I'd like her other books after the Shopaholic series, but Sophie Kinsella does not disappoint. Hilarious as ever, Kinsella doesn't go wrong with 'I've Got Your Number'.
The heroine, Poppy with her little quirks and huge determination to help others, is finally able to overcome her own problems through various funny scenarios.
Though a worthy buy, I'm giving this 4 stars because Kinsella's other work such as "The Undomestic Goddess" is even better. But any Kinsella read will have you clutch your stomach with laughter!
