Inalsa Regal Electric Kettle

*** I am writing this review after 3 months of usage. ***

Well if you stay in a hostel, a good electric kettle is a must have, especially if you are a night owl and spend half of the nights awake. You are bound to feel hungry. Fear not... this kettle will save you. You can make pretty much anything that needs short cooking... tea, coffee, Maggi, boiling eggs, warming milk (needs attention for milk). Since the price is low, its easily the best choice. My friend bought it from Flipkart about 3 months ago. We used it almost every day (actually night most of the time :P). I was very much satisfied with it so I got one for myself too.

Pros:
1. Low Price for a metallic kettle. Metal is durable and is not stinky like plastic.
2. Concealed heating element, so many things (as stated above) can be made.
3. Uniform cylindrical shape so the opening is wider.
4. Cord is attached to the base and not the kettle, so practically it is cordless.
5. Very easy to clean due to points 2, 3 & 4.
6. 360 degree rotation is very convenient.
7. Others have reported auto shut off & dry boil protection although I never had to use it till now.

I'll explain the cons in detail.
Cons.
1. You have to be careful while making tea/coffee or boiling milk. If possible just warm the milk as it comes out very fast. Even when warming, the milk tends to stick to the base of the kettle. Do slight stirring to reduce this. At this point the kettle is easy to clean, but if you happen to completely boil the milk (or tea/coffee), it becomes difficult to clean. Then again, they have said that the kettle is for boiling water only.
2. There is a small gap near the filter area between the lid & the kettle even when lid is closed, so the tea is not well filtered if you immediately pour it into cups. Let the tea powder settle or get a separate filter (which I feel is a better option.)
3. The Cord could have been a bit longer. The present length forces you to keep the kettle at about 2 feet from electric points.

In all a very fine product, which delivers more than what its cost would suggest. A must buy for hostellites. If you are buying in the same price range, don't waste time or money in buying any other kettle.
As for the Flipkart's delivery, they are awesome. I got the kettle in just 3 days (including a non business day), while the estimated time shown is 6-8 business days.

I got this awesome product last month and I am thoroughly loving it. I took a week's time for Flipkart to ship the product as it needs to be shipped from Inalsa, Delhi. Flipkart service was commendable as always.

How did I zero-in on this kettle..

I wanted a 1L kettle intended for boiling milk/water. My budget was Rs.1500. I initially zeroed-in on Orpat OEK-8127 which is a plastic 1L kettle and costs Rs.730. But my friends suggested me to go for a stainless steel kettle to avoid plastic smell from plastic kettles. So I again started looking for 1L stainless models. Most of them were either expensive or difficult to use.
I then came across this Inalsa Regal, which was absolutely what i wanted.

About Inalsa Regal now...

1) The kettle is rigid/sturdy and made of high quality stainless steel, which gives a premium look. It takes only 2-mins for boiling water. The kettle is very simple to use.

2) The kettle has a wide-body design and has a broad base. It is cordless. The cord is a bit shorter, but that's okay with me.

3) This is the most important part as you would have a bitter experience with most of the kettles out there. This kettle has a broad opening and hence cleaning/washing is so easy. Your fingers can go till the bottom of the kettle and clean it neatly.

4) The auto cut-off feature works great.

On the whole, I am thoroughly satisfied with this product. I strongly recommend others to go ahead with this if a 1L kettle is your need.

I bought this kettle before 20 days.. Its working fine... :) Thanks to flipkart.. good service.. Apart from using it for boiling water, I have used it for making maggi... :P and it works good.

As I stay in hostel sometimes feel like not going to mess for eating food.. Once me and my friend thought of making maggi with the vegetables. so first we cooked vegetables and it was really faster than the normal stove cooking.. :) and then we cooked maggi..

But the only thing is that we have to stir it and also have to switch it on and off frequently otherwise the food gets roasted in the base...

Overall a good product... :)

Flipkart Service:
As usual Flipkart delivered this product within 3 days. It was well packed which used the air filled plastic as packaging. The product had all the papers which are required for warranty claims, if any, from the kettle manufacturer.

Product:

Looks: The kettle looks good with the metal shine and the black plastic handle.
Working: The kettle works as promised. It boils water within 5 minutes,
Structure: The handle provided is good enough to hold the kettle and pour the hot water. But care should be taken as the metal container also heats up.
Taste: Water tastes normal.I did the mistake of not washing the kettle before the first use due to which the water had a weird taste. But after the first wash the water tastes perfectly normal.

Pros:
Heats water very fast.
The water tastes normal.
Very easy to clean as the kettle has a very wide opening.

Cons:
Care should be taken as the metal also becomes hot once the water starts boiling.

Its a good quality product.Anyone who is looking for a good kettle can go for it.
