I used to buy Manoroma year book every year. No doubt Manoroma is a very good book, but what makes India 2013 quite different is that it comes from the publication department of the ministry of information technology and broadcasting. I had a glace of the 2012 year book and every topic is explained from the root. The topics are bifurcated ministry wise and introduction is given about the ministry and the present scenario of it. Too good to be true.

This book is really nice with all the information one needs to crack competitive exams. But if you take a review of the whole book, most of the information given is too optimistic and positive which it isn't as we know it. For example, if you take a look at the section of Indo-China relationships, they give paragraphs full of several summits, meetings and agreements and top it up with saying that we have sustained good ties with China, which isn't true. Got this product for lowest ever prices on Flipkart. I had the earlier versions India 2010 and 2011 in pdf format. It was available as an eBook. Afterwards, the Publication Division, GoI printed it to get some revenue as this is popular among the Civil Services aspirants for complete and exhaustive information on India and various geographical, economical, political aspects. The information available in this book is present in earlier editions of this yearbook. Even Census 2011 is not include...

Must for Civil Service exam General Studies

This book is recommended for Civil Service exam General Studies students and much better than those offered by private publishers. But if you have older editions like 2012, 2011 there is not much advantage buying this edition as most of material (close to 95 percent) is same, rest you will automatically update through newspapers and PIB. Better Borrow or buy second hand

but not an excellent one....... covers most of the topic. when u go through the book u will see a brief descriptions on all topic that covers d outline or more like an overview. good for beginners. u will get a grasp on where u stand initially.
