Quzzing on television or any toher kind of competitive quizzing for that matter, has its own imperatives. To ensure participation, the questions must be pegged to the likely-to-known or at least the half-known. Since a quiz book can be free of such compulsions, I thought that this one and the ones that follow could explore a world that is immediate to us, yet offers so much to discover, or rather re-discover- the world of India. Authenticating quiz facts on India, till somebody compiles an authoritative Encyclopaedia India, is difficult at the best of times, but the subject itself is ripe with possibilities, full of so many questions just waiting to be asked, and answerd.
