Indian Culture And India’s Future gives the reader an insight into the abundance of India’s culture. It speaks about the contribution of the country’s culture to the world and about the crossroads the culture and the country find themselves at presently.

    Summary Of The Book

Indian Culture And India’s Future is a guide to India’s past, its thinkers, its achievements and its contributors. It also attempts at discerning the many reasons that have led to Indians having a strange sense of disassociation for their country, heritage and culture. The author also tries to reason out the lack of pride for the country that is prevalent among many Indians.

The book’s first part, “A Thousand-Branched Tree” introduces the reader to the scientists of ancient India and their discoveries, the influence of India’s culture over many parts of the world, the country’s contributions in the fields of art and culture, and the deep-rooted respect for nature and the environment. The next part, titled “Indian Culture at the Crossroads”, discusses the many issues that plague present day India’s cultural identity and their causes. The last section, “India and the World”, looks into the stereotypes, distortions and complete lies that have defamed India.

In his book, Indian Culture And India’s Future, the author states that Indian culture is not an ancient relic, but something that is ever changing and still has a very important role to play in shaping the country’s identity. It is also an answer to many of the challenges that the world faces today. Written in a clear and engaging style, the book is an attempt to answer questions like what is the meaning of being an Indian. How does the rest of the world perceive India, its culture and its contribution? What is the meaning of tolerance and secularism in the context of India? These are also some of the questions that are answered in the book.

An informative, factful, strongly worded and unapologetic take on the topic

It is common among us Indians to think of our land as one steeped in rich culture and history, but how many of us really know the magnitude and historical impact on the world of our technological, ethical and cultural achievements.

This book takes up this difficult topic in its initial pages and provides numerous examples of the genius of ancient Indian civilization. Further, it doesn't fail to mention the alarming ignorance of our current education system and how our students are fed a 'wes...

It's a book which should be part of every Indian Family's heirloom...

It's a book which succinctly puts the case of holding onto our Indian value system in this fast westernizing India of today. East India company and later "Blood Royals" (British Monarchy) have through Macaulay succeeded in dividing Indian society and made it so week that today each of us want to know other's ethnicity before we exchange a hearty conversation. This division was never so evident as it's now. It's time we Indians take it upon ourselves and help Indian attain the glory which Indi...

Every Indian Must Read This Eye-Opener

Fact 1: India is in a bad shape today. Her citizens are unhappy, despondent and even embarrassed about their country.

Fact 2: Till a few centuries ago, India was the leader in every aspect of civilization, be it the economy (GDP), science and technology, spirituality or city planning.

Questions: How do we make India a better place? Can we take solutions from our ancient culture? Also, how has our ancient culture contributed to what we today know as western knowledge?

    To build the future, ...

Include this book in school syllabus

Got to know what my past India was truly about. We often speak high and proud about our past but never really truly believe in it. When it comes to comparison, deep down we have inferiority complex and consider the West to be somewhat superior. This well-researched book doesn't tell any bullshitty high claims about our past glory but still creates a feeling of true confidence over ourselves by telling what our India really was.

It's not so much in the achievements of our past Indians that w...

Every indian must read and think about it

Its a bit odd being told that it is ok to be proud of our history and legacy. But it is also assuring that the writer keeps asking that we stay grounded in truth and reality. I really like when he quotes Aurobindo to say that Indian identity is not fragile and will not be destroyed by seeking out an honest assessment of our past, history, etc. Genetics, religion, etc. alone an identity do not make.

Relevant to young Indians who blindly ape the west

I received profound knowledge about Indian civilization and Vedic culture. The book breaks into the heart of Indian mediocracy in terms of new research and finds the solution. A very nice book and asks the Indian youth and leaders difficult questions. Can we rise to the occasion?
