This storyteller could never go wrong.

I bought this book after being recommended it by a friend. I hadn't even been aware that R K Narayan ever wrote a version of the Ramayana or the Mahabharata. I'd been looking for a good version of them in English for a while now... and even though these weren't as detailed as I would have liked, I enjoyed his re-telling immensely.

I particularly enjoyed the last section of the book, called Gods, Demons and Others, which contained a selection of stories from Hindu mythology. Well worth the read.
