
Development programmes in India, while taking the rural poorinto account, have failed to have the desired impact on the development of thecountry as a whole. This is because of distortions in planning process. Why isit that the more we plan, the more yawning the gap between the rich and the poor, the urban and the rural,the organized and unorganized sectors, the advanced and the backward regions?What is so fundamentally wrong with our planning process that hinders any realdevelopment from taking place? This work seeks to find out the answer as it analysesthe pros and cons of India's development agenda in detail.
