Information Process and Retrieval

It is now being increasingly felt that information technology is a major facilitator and catalyst for accelerating growth of the economy. It has integrated the world by the use of internet. The pervasive influence of information technology is so strong that there is hardly any sphere of human life in which it has not been able to make a niche for itself. Accordingly, the present-day world expects from everyone to possess at least some acquaintance with this technology. The present book is primarily about computer-based retrieval systems and its objective is to teach the basics of retrieval systems and its working. Information retrieval is a communication process that links the information user to a librarian. The communication normally involves the processing of text. C.K. Sharma, Ph.D., is a known figure in the field of Library and Information Science. He has served in this profession for forty years. He has worked as Assistant Librarian as well as Lecturer in the Ravishankar University; and Incharge University Librarian in the Agra University. He also served the same University as Reader and Head, Department of Library and Information Science. He is a Founder Head of Department of Library & Information Science of Agra University; IME, Sahibabad and M.M. Modi College, Modinagar. Furthermore, he has served as Director, UIMT, and Chief Proctor and Development Officer in the SRM Institute of Management and Technology, Modinagar. He is Founder President of Chhattisgarh Library Association. He is a life member of ILA and UPLA. Dr. Sharma has written twenty-seven books till date on Library & Information Science, General Studies, and History. His two books, Research Methodology and Historical Places of India are very popular. A.K. Sharma, M.Sc. (Zoology), M.Lib.Sc., Ph.D. (Lib. & Info. Sc.), is presently serving as Librarian at Shyam Lal College (Evening), University of Delhi. He served as Librarian for 18 years at M.M. Modi College, Modinagar.
