The Best For Gaming Without overclocking[CPU]
PLEASE SEE I AM TALKING ABOUT GAMING ONLY
First let me explain to you that Overclocking CPU[using at higher clock speed than stock speeds] is required for the performance gain when your Graphics card is bottlenecked by the CPU or to gain extra frame rate in games[for smooth gaming experience]
Processor is a major part for gaming[apart from graphics card].In simple words both processor and graphics must be of the same level in performance.If you pair i7 3960X[fastest CPU] with a GTX520[slow graphics card] or pentium 4[very slow CPU] with GTX680[currently Fastest Graphics card] ,your games will be extremely laggy.
I5 2500 wouldn't even bottleneck a single GTX680.so there is no need for overclocking if you are getting any single card.
Go save yourself some money.get a h67[non overclocking] motherboard which will save you a lot of money than Z68,P67[overclocking] :about 5000 bucks
This processor is enough for now at gaming

Awesome Processor For non overclockers.
The core i5 2500 is a great processor.You are possible looking at the i7 2600k the only difference is i7 has 4 physical cores and 8 virtual cores + Hyper threading and i5 2500 has only 4 virtual cores.
The k represents the unlocked multipliers which will be used while overclocking.To put it simple we cant overclock this processor since it does not have the unlocked multiplier. So go for the i5 2500 K if you want to overclock the processor and remember overclocking does reduce the life span of the processor.
One more thing try not to use the cpu cooler that came with processor. Its poorly designed and even a 20$ cpu cooler will outperform it.

If u do not overclock, then this along with a H61 or H67 chipset motherboard is the best option for you. With a top turbo boost frequency of 3.7GHz, this processor can effortlessly multitask & is worth the price premium over AMD processors.
