Intel 3.3 GHz LGA1155 Core i5 3550 Processor

I am a hardcore gamer with limited budget-------

I had an old amd phenom 8450 2.1 GHz triple core processor which I bought 4 years ago alongwith ATI HD 4870 graphics card. It served me well all these years but it lacked a punch in all those games which were highly processor dependent (eg., GTA IV). Thanks to my graphics card I could play all the games till last year with high settings at a respectable resolution. But this processor is a power house yet a cold breeze when it comes to power consumption. Has inbuilt intel 2500k graphics, 22nm fabrication, 77w peak power consumption, Ivy bridge's new architecture and most important of all its cheaper than the similar performing sandy bridge counterpart.

I have a Nvidia OCed GTx 560 Ti 2GB card and an H77 motherboard and I can play any current game(ofcourse leaving Batman Arkham city) at highest setting possible with respectable fps(>30 fps). And I dont see a need for a change in my current setup for another 2-3 years. And even if there would be a change it would be for a new graphics card.

I had a processor in past which I could have overclocked if I wanted, but seriously most of the users dont. I do overclock my graphics card, coz this is where the real graphics power comes from and 3.3 GHz is enough for almost every game and application as of now.

My opinion = Go for it and dont think twice!!

The processor is great. I bought this as a replacement for my old phenom II. Uses almost half the power and performs like a champ. Single threaded performance is miles ahead of the phenom II (massive boost for CPU intensive games).

I paired this with a CM Hyper 212+ and the temps never crossed 60C while stress testing with prime 95. Didn;t really bother trying the stock cooler as i need a really silent PC.

Of course this isn't a K series proccy and is not for people looking to squeeze out some more performance ;)

powerful performance. i have 3 computers in my house and i am programmer and also fan of computer games.
the cpu also dont get heat up in short time. in i5 series this is best cpu and price is also affordable. if any buddy wants pc for games and heavy duty application , then i suggest this is the processor u need.

This is not a gamer's review.
The processor is small, fast and efficient.
Comparable to the cost but faster than the i5 2500k, the i7 2670 and the amd bulldozer series.
Its built in gpu is good for every day use.
Fused this with an asus p8z77v-pro mb and 8 gbs of corsair ram.
Use this for cad, 3d and dlna server.
might go in for graphic card if i find the cad work lagging. so far havent found the built in gpu lagging.
For the cost, recommend it over the amd series and the old sandy bridge processors.
Although it has built in turbo, this cpu cannot be over clocked.
Could not load any flavour of linux on it..probably due to the UEFI bios on these new mbs.

If you are not into Ocing you should get this
auto boosts upto 3.7 ghz
Intel will last you up to 5-7 years trust me
if you add a next gen gfx card you will have a demon up your desk.
