Intel 3.4 GHz LGA1155 Core i7-2600K Processor

I used to think this was one of the best processors around...but not any more. I still think its a very good processor, but "not value for money". Why? Explanation below.
Since I got some criticism for my previous review, I'm doing a detailed update.
Since this will get big. I will divide it into 4 parts. If you're short on time, dive into the one you are more interested.

1. For the overclocker

For the overclocker
-------------------
Yes, this is an excellent processor for you - with unlocked multiplier and all. This is an excellent processor to overclock, but there is something better i7 2700K.
So, why do I think a +100 Mhz so much more better?
No its not better... the +100 Mhz is insignificant.
What is significant is that the 2700K is "higher binned" silicon vs the 2600K.
In simple terms, if one were to overclock the 2600K, he may/may not achieve a good overclock (It is possible the system may become unstable after a certain point say, 4.5Ghz -- that depends on your luck!). The i7 2700K is "guaranteed" to give you an excellent overclock -- you can reach 5 Ghz by just air cooling. Dream come true huh?.
That is one of the reasons why there is no 2700, but only a 2700K.
The i7 2700K is a born overclocker!
So overclockers, get the i7 2700K.

2. For the non-overclocker

This is not for you. If you do not intend to spend money buying extra heat sink, cooler etc.. or playing around with the settings in the BIOS, just save yourself some money and buy the i7 2600 (without the K)

3. Bulldozer vs Sandy Bridge

Yeah, the 8150 FX has 8 cores and all.
But whats the point? Its so slow compared to even the i5 2500.
Someone said its a conspiracy by intel and microsoft that the Sandy Bridge scores more in benchmarks. I say, "you don't know what you are talking about".
If you run it on Linux, you are going to get the same results because i7's are much faster.
Benchmarks for PC are the truth of performance, and trust only benchmarks.
The fact is a high end Bulldozer with 8 cores is unable to compete with a mid-rage i5 2500.
Another big factor is, Bulldozer by default consumes too much power. And if you overclock it, it becomes almost triple of an overclocked i7.... I'm sure you don't want to pay that kind of electricity bill.

Anyway, at this point, I can say Bulldozer is a big failure -- and it is more expensive than the "better performing" i5 2500.

Or just google "Bulldozer failure" and read some articles about how terrible it is.
If you are on a budget, get the 2500K and overclock it, else get the i7 2700K (refer above)

4. Advantage over i5 2500K

i5 2500K is said to be one of the best mid-end CPUs out there. Both are quad-core. So what advantage does this have over i5 2500K.
Firstly, Hyper threading. Each core inside the i7 2700K has an extra set of registers - making it very easy for that core to switch between two tasks. --- In simple words, "this processor can easily handle many tasks over one which does not have the hyper-threading"
Secondly, the extra cache. Will result in overall better performance.
So how do you make your decision?
If you are a gamer, i5 2500K and i7 2700K/2600 makes no difference for you -- because games are not very "threaded" - in simple terms, get a better graphic card and get the 2500K instead. Games depend too much on the graphic card, and if you spend the extra buks on the GPU, you will get the extra performance. The i7 is not going to give you any/hardly any improvement.
If you do 3d modelling, heavy compiling, scientific tasks, video editing - encoding, etc.. you really need the i7's - the performance difference is significant.

best processor available from intel for high end gaming and multimedia pc's. Unlocked multiplier so u can overclock. My suggestion is to use a cooler master hyper 912 or tx3 heat sink with this processor if u plan to overclock else u should go for core i7 2600 because it has sevral hardware features which r not present on i7 2600k. Good effort from flipkart for us PC users to bring in computer parts for sale, as they have a good and reliable e-commerce service.

I speak to all the lay people who once had are now is dreaming of a super performing desktop. Do not get dragged into the controversies of 'which is better than which and why'. There is just no end to it. IF you have settled for i7 2nd generation look no further. This is it for you. If you get troubled by 'whether i should spend a couple of grands more 100MHz more?' then you would end up wasting more time than your ultimate gain. Remember, YOU will use it and no one will come tell you, 'should have gone for that 100MHz more one. tsk tsk!' None of these i7 processors will run setup of Windows 7 in half time of the i5 or i3. Normal chores run like all the same but when the need comes up, this processor will show that it can go that extra mile whether be fitted to a Media series or Extreme series motherboard. Mine is working fine with Intel DZ68BC Extreme. Final verdict, if you can get our the constant sickness of 'is it state-of-the-art', you will never repent the decision (unless you are trying to hack into Martian Aerospace Data Center in 2.50 seconds or less)! Whatever, LOL!

wow what a prossesor and got very very very very very very very very fast speed and can play 3d games on it my favorate prossesor this prossesor will be king of all prossesor minimum till 2013 and got soo fast speed but get amd radeon graphic card wow this is very cool and dobble cool with amd radeon graphics uhhhhhh i like it it is soo cool my computer has intel core i7 and amd radeon graphics its soo cool for gaming and any game we can play on it any game......... it is fastest prossesor........ i dont write so long review but this prossesor for me write this review but it is very very very very very very very very cool and got soo fast speed you cant immagine soo you take this only prossesor............... i love flipkart items and flipkart never break own prommise i lovin it..............

This is i7 2600"K" not i7 2600.Its better to buy 2600k than 2700k just a 100Mhz higher than 2600K.So you can buy this processor and overclock to compete 2700K.By doing this you can save some bucks!

This Sandy Bridge processor seems to perform well in all means especially when you do multitasking but its costly as every one knows Intel = Costly.If you can afford that much then go for Intel.If Budget is tight/low go for AMD.The new AMD's FX processor gets poor reviews an benchmarks because the problem is not in the hardware side its because windows is not optimized for the bulldozer architecture also Intel has strong relationship with microsoft.

So Think before you buy this is not Gold which is valuable all the time in electronics you need to buy which is worth for your bucks this is my opinion.
K-Denotes for unlocked core.if you overclock then go for the K series processors
Core i5 2500k is a much worthy buy when you don't multitask a lot.When comes to Gaming i5 2500k is far better than i7 2600k.
Note: Ivy Bridge Processors might come soon i guess in the late April.If you can wait then hold on for 2 months.
It also comes in LGA1155 socket type
only Ivy Bridge -E will be LGA2011 socket type.
Both SB-E and IVB-E Processors are costly also their Low end motherboard will cost around 17 -18k.
