Bang for the buck !!!!

This processor is excellent. Got it today. It gave me a Windows Experience Index rating of 6.8. Earlier using my dual core(LGA 775 socket), I could get on 22-25 fps on playing GTA4. Now that's 55 fps on an average!!! Now that's awesome! I'm currently using it with a 4GB DDR3 RAM. Don't hesitate, just go for it! You won't have to regret on buying it!

1)It is cheap
2)Its performance is comparable to i3 processors.

This is nothing but an older core i3 processor, with hyperthreading disabled..!!

Reason for buying this...

Previously i owned an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+(worked 6 yrs without any problem) , but this time i decided to go for an intel cpu.
When i bought this, i was looking for an entry level processor from intel, and the pc build was mostly for home theatre and casual gaming, so i decided to not spend a lot on CPU, and instead concentrate on getting a good graphics card...

Here is the shocker...

So getting a budget cpu like this one, i really did not expect much, but i was shocked when i ran passmark CPU bench mark. In my office i have a core i3 2120, the score for that one happens to be somewhere around 3100, and this CPU gave a score of 3029 !! Maybe i got such a high score because i used 2*4 RAM in dual channel configuration, but still anything around 2900 to 3000 in passmark, is considered to be a mid-range cpu. So in this segment there is no question of this CPU being able to meet the requirements of most home users and casual gamers..

What to look for...

Great performance at an amazing price, this is a new strategy of intel, previously intel concentrated only on performance and quality, but now its nice to know that they are becoming budget conscious.
Looking at this performance, i feel intel felt lazy to design a budget CPU, so just took a second generation i3(sandy bridge) , and removed some features like hyperthreading, and minimized virtualization support along with re-marketing this as a pentium dual core...

Being an entry level CPU, the integrated graphics that come with this cpu, is powerful enough to handle everyday photos and videos. It plays videos upto 1080p resolution without breaking a sweat. But folks looking for some gaming action with the integrated graphics are bound to be disappointed with it. I suggest them to look at buying a discrete graphics card at around 4 to 6k. But be warned that, very high end graphic cards(more than 8K) may not work with their full potential, as the CPU may bottleneck their performance.

But at this price, you really can't go wrong...
So people, on a budget just blindly go for this CPU...

Best Intel Processor (Marketed for cheapskates)

New 4th generation Haswell processors launched already. This is cheap Ivy Bridge
dual core with Hyper Threading disabled. Get celeron G1610 if you can find in value for money, but oh, virtualization disabled. Intel works like
typical shrewd business people knowingly crippling low-end processors. Coming
back, obviously i5 and i7 launched ...for Haswell pentium wait for next year by
the time they launch their next 5th generation processor.

I had a Compaq presario about 10 years ago. They made fabulous machines. Then I
started reading useless magazines like Digit and built a computer myself from
locally sourced components in patna mercury 945 gcm board so
called 450 PSU...they all tanked after just couple of years.
This time I got stuff from Flipkart---

Asus P8-B75-MLX ----It was earlier selling around Rs 4000 earlier...Had to pay
around Rs5000 this time....everyone seems to be pushing Gigabyte B75 board. I
wanted an Asus. It has B75 business class not much expected. The ad
says windows 8 ready but the driver CD won't run in windows 8. But driver
updates available on asus website.

Intel G2010
Corsair XMS RAM - 4's 1600 MHz but above processor constraints it to
run at 1333 MHZ.
Logitech G100 gaming keyboard combo.....pretty okay.....but keys makes so much
Corsair cx430 - It came with UK power plug....need an adaptor or different power
cable for india.
Sapphire 7750 - AMD card...rave reviews on american boards....last year
hardware...doing good with all available games...I am not touching Crysis 3.

So overall pretty okay ....American Amazon like product availability and website
design with their original idea of cash of delivery ...Flipkart people
themselves worked there i hear.
I wouldn't have got these stuff in Patna. So thank you all.

Update --- Crysis 3 runs amazingly great in medium settings.

@somiran for you only!!

it doesnt matter if you hve computers !!...your c2d is a laptop and is bound to heat up after so many years of use...because of dust buiild up and cheap less airflow...AMD laptops are not even 2% of the overall laptop market because they heat up fast. And they dont heat up because they are AMD they heat up bcoz they consume more power.your amd fx4100 uses 125 watts whreas i3 3200 uses only 65 max power. And please dont write false statements that fx4100 is same as!!...coz even fx 8150 doesnt beat i5 3550 3rd gen.i have proof
and the benchmarks i have posted are i3 3220 vs fx 4300 which is more new than fx 4100 and still doesnt dont go on the number of cores and clock speeds...they dnt cannot be beaten...and moreover i dare u to buy amd will burn ur home...days of AMD when they had phenoms were awsum...but now its just bullshit...AMD top end fx8350 cant even beat intels middle end i5 3570k...not to mention i7 3770 and i7 3960x which amd cant evn come close...and i would pay 4k extra to save electricity and have a green computer than the amd power eater your electricity bills will be 10% more.. i can vouch for that

Superb value for Money

I have used a variety of Intel and AMD processors at various price points, but the Pentium G2xxx has been the best value for money till date. The processor is absolutely at par with the entry level i3 processor and has plenty enough power for various tasks like media center, light gaming, browsing and photo editing. Video editing and re-encoding videos struggle a little.

One of the best things about it is how cool the CPU runs. Hardly gets hot, so your CPU fan can run really slow and thus reduce noise, ideal for media centers. In fact, the processor seems to ship with a low profile CPU cooler that is perfect for a HTPC.

For 3.5k, you cannot go wrong with this processor. Get a basic 1155 motherboard, accessories and put in a good SSD drive as your boot device and you have a screaming machine for less than 20k.
