About Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson is an English sports journalist and renowned author. He regularly writes about Eastern European football and tactics. Wilson has authored five books, including The Outsider: A History of the Goalkeeper and Behind the Curtain: Football in Eastern Europe. Inverting the Pyramid was named Football Book of the Year in 2009. Nobody Ever Says Thank You is his most recent book which is a biography of Brian Clough.

Delicious stuff

There's a reason why Jonathan Wilson is renowned in the world of football writing and this work of genius reflects that in its entirety. Taking the reader through the ages with regard to football tactics isn't the easiest thing to do but Wilson's sheer genius lies in being able to make it all comprehensible to anyone who understands the sport.

THE definitive football book

Jonathan Wilson polarizes opinion. There are those that believe that Wilson is so obsessed with the tactical, and indeed scientific, aspect of football that he often misses out on its romance of the beautiful game. Another criticism is that this book has given rise to a new generation of armchair "critics", tossing around terms like "Regista" and "Trequartista" with a smugness that makes you want to punch them in the face.

Nice book

A Book for every Football Fanatic

I got the book for something over Rs.500. And being a mad about football tactics, Jonathan Wilson's writing didn't disappoint me at all.

Informative and Very very interesting. The details of the pre 1900 era gave an idea about how the rules bought in the game

As far as delivery of the book is concerned, it as on time- 5/5 for that.

An overall 5/5. Do give it a read.
