Isaac Kashdan, American Chess Grandmaster Review by Erik OsbunA nice piece of research, a very loooong research to collect the game scores of Isaac Kashdan. The format provided by McFarland & Company, Publishers, is very fine. In fact, every serious chess player/collector should want this book. Collectors are provided with a nice history and 757 scores, and keep in mind that Lahde provides a list of missing game scores to whet the search appetite. Cross tables of the events in which Kashdan participated demonstrate that in the 30s and early 40s he was one of the best players in the world. I didn't meet him until the later 50s, and in the 60s as columnist for the LA Times he published at least one of my games. I used to devour his column in the college library!
One error I noticed: the cross table for Frankfort 1930 has Nimzowitch's first 5 results scrambled.
