Excellent book for those looking to rejuvenate/start their financial life. Must have book in your library and should be read many times to ensure all the concepts sits deeply in our thoughts.
The language of book is quite impressive and entices you to read on - particularly, the fables in between to derive the point, for example, the story of the king and the gardeners, et al.
The book showcases the importance of financial protection; intelligent investments through proper goal setting. This book came as a guide to my financial planning. The tabular illustration showcasing equity returns over long term are really noteworthy. It changed my perspective of equity investment.
The insights that the book provides are easy to understand and apply in one’s financial life.
I was more than happy to have bought this book. I was a little late infact.. This book is perfect for beginners, especially who are in the beginning of their career and people who haven't started investing seriously. I do not have a good understanding about the stock markets neither do I understand those jargon. But I have gained an insight about how to plan our financial life ahead :) Thanks Jagoinvestor !!
It is a MUST READ and an excellent book for basic financial literacy. Especially, good for Indian atmosphere and roots, it is very essential to read this book. The basic fundamentals told in this book is even not known to financial experts and even these thing can not be discussed by others like ROBERT KIYOSAKI etc.
I would like to thank Mr. Manish for writing this amazing book. It's really a must have book to think about our finance situations.
As per my point of view, it belongs to motivational and inspirational category regarding our financial matter.
What is missed in this book, I think that's what to invest in which things with an example. I hope you guys got my point what I do mean by examples.
Finally, I am awaiting for more books from him.
This book by Manish is a real winner. Continuing with the tradition of Jagoinvestor, the book aims to help ordinary investors discover the way to wealth creation. Instead of long lessons in personal finance, the book talks about the need to invest and the various investment vehicles through easy to understand graphs, figures and cartoons. The layout and design are also very cheerful and each chapter has exercises on goal setting, financial planning etc. This book is not for commerce students trying to understand personal finance theory; rather it is for the lay investor who needs a guide to build wealth through smart investments. Manish has done the right thing by avoiding complexities and instead focussing on providing simple and easy to understand explanations on personal finance.
Wow... First of all I want to thank Manish Chauhan for writing this wonderful book. Very lucid explanation so anyone can understand very easily what the author wanted to convey to readers. This book is really an eye opener for everyone who don't take their financial life seriously and must read book for young investor. I bet you that once you read the book you will start looking your financial life differently :)
Cheers to Manish!!.. Happy investing!!..
This book can be one of the building block of anyone's financial life. Very nicely written and explained very clearly about behavioral approach one should adopt. Would help in clearing the fundamentals doubt and a guide on how & where to start. This book would be great help for everyone especially to our YOUTH from 21 yrs to 30 years. They must read this!!
I sat down to read the book in weekends and suddenly got hooked. The content is interesting and language is very lucid. All the concepts have been clearly explained with examples. The content really opened my eyes to my own financial mess which I wasn't even was aware of before reading the book. It has helped me to understand where my financial life is heading and how I can take control. It has explained concepts of compounding, virtues of term insurance and early savings on one hand, and uncovered the myth surrounding investment in equity. This is a small book with not every concept explained in depth, but it hits it where it matters most. Overall it is a good head start for anyone who wants to bring a positive change in their financial life.
I learnt/got aware of quite a few things from reading the book.
1. While I knew (in the back of my mind) about the power of compounding, I never in my wildest dreams understood how much powerful it is, and I am regretting I did not start investing early in my life. Now, i'm realizing that to create a large corpus, the amount of monthly SIP investment that I need to do is lot more!
2. Your examples of the King's granary is an excellent example of the power of compounding, and it hit the point home very well.
3. I realized that I've fortunately made the right decision with regard to a large term insurance, and I've covered myself reasonably well
4. You continue to talk about "being in action" throughout the book - I've realized that in areas of life where I'm very successful are those where I've truly been "on the court, and in the action field", rather than being a spectator - it is just a matter of bringing the very same commitment to the area of money.
5. Goal setting is something that I've not done, and this is a good learning I'm taking away from the book.
