JavaScript: Pocket Reference (English) 3rd Edition (Paperback) Price: Rs. 125

JavaScript is the ubiquitous programming language of the Web, and for more than 15 years, JavaScript: The Definitive Guide has been the bible of JavaScript programmers around the world. This book is an all-new excerpt of The Definitive Guide, collecting the essential parts of that hefty volume into this slim yet dense pocket reference.

The first 9 chapters document the latest version (ECMAScript 5) of the core JavaScript language, covering:
  • Types, values, and variables
  • Operators, expressions, and statements
  • Objects and arrays
  • Functions and classes

The next 5 chapters document the fundamental APIs for using JavaScript with HTML5 and explain how to:
  • Interact with web browser windows
  • Script HTML documents and document elements
  • Modify and apply CSS styles and classes
  • Respond to user input events
  • Communicate with web servers
  • Store data locally on the user's computer
  • This book is a perfect companion to jQuery Pocket Reference.

Good if you are already gelled with Jscript!

Explains JS a bit upgraded way. I suggest the newbies to go for some basic ideas about javascript and then come back and keep this one in the pocket so that you can brush up the functions, methods etc. In the last few chapters veryfew basics of Ajax and Client / Server Side storage and sockets have been explained. Just an overview for the pros.

perfect short version of The Definative JavaScript book

I would suggest this book to every JavaScript lover who dont want to read big fat books. This is perfect covers most important features of JavaScript in very few pages. Good to read while traveling. ;)

If you are started into JS this is a Good book, followed by The JavaScript Good parts.

If you are intermediate JS programmer like me, I would strongly recommend you this since reading fat books if you skipped certain pages this book wont make you bored atall :)

Explains the essentials of JavaScript & ECMAScript 5 in less than 300 pages

JavaScript Pocket Reference isn't really a dictionary styled reference that I imagined it to be. This book reads more like a O’Reilly book in the Nutshell series than a Reference. It should have been called JavaScript in a Nutshell for this is a distilled & condensed version of the author's immensely popular JavaScript: The Definitive Guide. It is however a well-written book that covers the important parts of JavaScript and the essentials of ECMAScript 5 in less than 300 pages.

This book is like a quick tour of the modern-day JavaScript landscape by an expert guide. The author fills the disc
