Summary of the Books

The Firm

Mitch McDeere has everything he needs. Excellent grades, an amazing relationship with his childhood sweetheart and current wife, and an irresistible salary package from one of the biggest firms in all of Memphis. The Firm, as he comes to call his new workplace, gives him everything he could want: a BMW, a house and a huge salary. But he slowly discovers that it is a cover for a money laundering scheme run by one of the biggest mafia families in the country. He wants out, but no one has managed to get out of this outfit alive.

The Appeal

When Mississippi attorneys Wes and Mary Grace Payton defeat Krane Chemicals to avenge the carcinogenic pollution based deaths of Jeannette Baker's husband and son, the company decides to take matters into their own hands. They scheme to elect a new judge, one they can control as opposed to the current one who always favours the underdogs. What they do not expect is when the replacement's own son is seriously injured by the impact of a defective product and left permanently impaired by a medical error, he begins rethinking his decision. If he does not side with the Paytons, then there will be no justice for Jeannette. If he does, it could mean his life.

The Chamber

Adam Hall is a brilliant young lawyer. A part of Chicago's topmost law firm, he risks everything by taking up an impossible case, that of a death-row killer. Sam Cayhall has done it all. A former Klu Klux Klan member, and unrepentant racist facing the death penalty for a fatal bombing in 1967, he has no chance at an appeal. Except perhaps Adam Hall, his grandson. Adam must do his best to save Sam, and he has only a short while to do it before the executioner readies the gas chamber.
