Kokan in the 1930's was witness to an incredible story of love, sacrifice, passion and values.
Haridada was the head of the Damle Family. After the demise of his father, Haridada took all the responsibilities of his family on his strong shoulders. Getting his sister married, raising his three children and educating his younger brother were never looked at as responsibilities. Haridada actually loved doing it.
When Mahadev, Haridada's younger brother was doing his last year of Law Haridada decided to get a bride for him, Durga- later named Uma became the apple of everybody's eye.
Durga was 13years old when her marriage to Mahadev was arranged. She at first thought that Haridada was the groom and liked him at first glance. She got married to Mahadev but tragedy struck when Mahadev succumbed on the very night when their marriage was to be solemnized.
Widows in those days used to be ostracized and isolated, their heads shaven bald and they were not allowed to take part in any rituals. Uma too was a victim of this system but the day her head was to be shaven Haridada put his foot down and refused to follow any rituals, which would isolate Uma.
He stood by her rock solid in all her difficulties. There were doubts raised about his intentions, not just in the minds of others but also in the minds of his family members. The last straw was when even his wife started to doubt his integrity. Years later she realized her mistake and asked Haridada to marry Uma. Haridada laughed and to stop tongues wagging got his son married so that another woman's presence in the house would stop gossip mongers.
But One day fate struck a cruel blow and Haridada had no choice but to stop talking to Uma. Uma who by this time idealized Haridada couldn't take it and started sinking. But nothing and nobody could shake Haridada's resolve, until Haridada's own son took a stand against his father.
Haridada had no option but to come out with the truth to explain his behavior. A truth, which shocked everyone including Uma. What was that shocking truth? Did he accept Uma the way she was? Did society accept the shocking truth?

First I want to thank mahesh manjrekar for releasing Marathi film Industry's First Blu ray movie release..The story of movie is touching and quite good , quite serious film.this film means no funny business .
the pq is 5/5 the avc coded is very good , nice grains and crystal clear.very good transfer or i guess he shot the whole movie in HD.
aq is also 5/5 Dts HD MA Marathi 5.1 track is very good on my Pioneer HTP 071 system.the sound is crisp and clear and music is touching and emotional
the extras is only one making of the movie about 26 mins long and also shot in HD and audio is also Dts HD MA 2.0 that's so good from video palace.
Funny thing the ad logo of video palace is also on hd both video and audio , not many hindi companies have .
overall must buy even for non marathi speakers there is english subtitles and french subtitles. its must watch if u look some different type of film than daily nach gana in any indian movie.

Spell-Binding
Kakasparsha, as it's tag line promises, is indeed a quaint love story. It deals with mature emotions of love and sacrifice delicately brought to the fore meticulously by Sh.Mahesh Manjrekar. The non-linear form of narration gives this film the pace and feel of a dramatic thriller.
It is dark, but not melodramatic,enlightening but not preachy. The credible performances from the main cast, especially the protagonists Sachin Khedekar and Priya Bapat and from the supporting cast only enhance the impact of a water-tight script.The soulful and in-sync music is a bonus.
Certainly worth a watch.
