Carter and Sadie Kane face the impossible task of defeating Apophis, the serpent of chaos, before he can destroy the mortal world. Unfortunately the magicians of the House of Life are on the brink civil war, the Gods are divided, and the young initiates of Brooklyn House stand almost alone against the forces of chaos.

The Kane Chronicles has often received flak for not living up to Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus. Personally, I don't understand what's all the fuss about. I love the Kanes as much as I love Percy & Co., not to mention that Egyptian mythology is as cool as Greek/Roman.
And now with The Serpent's Shadow, Rick Riordan reinforces his ability to twist mythology into modern world with his trademark wit and humour. I particularly loved the part about the five parts of the soul and the one about sheut (shadow) representing one's legacy.
The way the loose ends were tied up was also neat, especially the whole Walt-Sadie-Anubis triangle. I was sad to see a good series end.
Before I wind up, here's a warning: it's infuriating to us readers that RR leaves a lot of hints to the HoO - yes, two minor characters from The Lost Hero make cameo appearances and there's a bit of foreshadowing at the end! I'll let you read it for yourself :)
A fantastic end to the Egyptian Mythology series by Rick Riordan. His books are simply addictive and real page-turners. In the Serpent's Shadow, we get an appropriate conclusion to the Kane's story and I may be the only one, but I am glad this story was a trilogy, and not a five-book series that Rick usually writes.
It is also nice to read about something other than Greek and Roman myths, though I am a huge fan of both PJO and HOO. And, rumour has it that Rick's next series after Heroes of Olympus is based on Norse Mythology. Cannot wait long enough for Thor, Odin and Loki as written by Riordan!
Don't go expecting a similar plot as the Greek/Roman stories, as the gods are completely different. That way, you shall definitely enjoy this series without any disappointment.
Great Book!
But Being a literature student, I found that it did not deliver as well as it should. But Being written by an absolutely skilled author this book is anything but a lame Read!
This book will not disapoint readers who have read the first two books of the series.
Of course the story is a bit predictable but is not a let down at all!
Anyway , Cheers to Ricky for ending the trilogy with another mind boggling experience!
Sadie and Carter will forever live in the hearts of the readers!
I recommend this book to all percy jackson enthusiasts.
And also due to the Diverse "Genre" of the book ie.Action,Adventure,Fantasy,Romance I recommend it to every teen out there!

The plot is very intertwined and the whole thing is disclosed to us only in the last parts of the book. this book is particularly good for youngsters as it teaches them about what is important in life. if you are a fan of Percy Jackson and you like the last olympian then this is not disappointing. Please Buy!!! If you have read the previous two books then there is no better satisfacory ending than this!!
