Kapilavastu is the first volume in Osamu Tezuka’s Buddha manga series.

    Summary of the Book

A long time ago in India, the land is plagued by drought, famine and constant conflict. The caste system breaks society apart in an unfair manner. The land cries for a saviour, one who shows the path to the truth. Into this world is born Siddhartha Gautama. His destiny is written in songs and legends, for the choices he will make will change the world forever. He is born a prince of the Shakya tribe, but destiny has something far greater in store for him. One day he will take on the great search for the meaning of light and Enlightenment, becoming the Sakyamuni Buddha, the Enlightened One.

    Engrossing. Unputdownable

My first Manga experience. Simply loved the book. Was reading while travelling is crowded delhi metro train. Somehow I left the world behind to lose into the manga version of thousands of years old lore about Buddha's birth. I was so engrossed that I almost forgot getting down at my destination. After, finishing the novel I felt so incomplete, the curiosity to read the second is killing me.

    Beautifully written.

I bought all the 8 parts of Osamu Tezuka's Buddha from flipkart. Got really good quality books, for a really cheap price.

This series tells the story of the Buddha in 8 volumes. I couldn't put this down, until I finished all the volumes. The books make you cry, smile, and sometimes it even makes you laugh out loud.
