Kaweco is a respected German manufacturer of writing instruments since 1883. Though the Sport Ice fountain pen is the cheapest pen from their stable, it has something on a cult following. I have been eyeing one for a while now and it has been in my shopping list. It was by sheer coincidence that I found the Kaweco Sport Ice fountain pen on offer at Flipkart. The pen was delivered faster than the promised 15 days.
The pen is made of clear acrylic and is available in a number of attractive colours. I selected the green just because I do not have any green demonstrator (transparent) pens in my collection. The pen comes with one standard cartridge. It has steel nib with the three part circle logo of Ka-We-Co embossed on it. Closed, the pen is 4.1 inches long and the cap is 2.8 inches. The open pen is exactly 3 inches and with the cap posted it is a good 5.4 inches, a very convenient size for a person with a small hand.
The piece I ordered has a Medium nib, which is just like the M nib of a Waterman's. Spot Ice is not a gusher, nor is it a dry writer. It delivers the right amont of ink flow I like and is a very smooth writer.
Unfortunately, Flipkart does not sell the uniquely designed clip for all Sport pens, which are sold separately in Europe.
With or without clip, the pen is a stunner and head turner. I never fail to get at least one admiring glance every time I take the pen out before an audience!
Worth every rupee you pay!
