Book Summary of Keep Off The Grass

What do you do when you are a twenty-five-year-old Yale graduate making half-a-million dollars a year as a hotshot investment banker on Wall Street?

You bust your ass and become a millionaire by thirty, of course.

Not if you are Samrat Ratan, born in the USA to immigrant Indian parents; you quit and enrol in business school in India instead. Samrat's rollercoaster journey begins at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Bangalore, where he spends his time getting high on marijuana while his grades – and self-confidence – plummet. Soon, Samrat's quest for identity turns increasingly bizarre as it takes him places he hadn't planned on visiting – prison, for example – and makes him do things he hadn't banked on doing: 'meditating' stoned with a sexy Danish hippie in the Himalayas, hanging out with a cannibal on the banks of the Ganga, and peddling soap to the formidable Raja Bhaiya in Benares.

Does Samrat – Yale valedictorian, investment banker, convict, pothead – survive his fall from grace

Fast Paced & Nicely written

Wow!! Just finished reading 'Keep Off The Grass' in straight 2 sittings. After a longtime, felt good after reading this fiction. Now a days, lots of crappy chicklits/light-readings are coming over the market, but this one stands out in the crowd.

Very well written from the young budding author, I liked his style of writing & that too his debut novel have come really good. Hats off to Karan as he has a long way to go. I'm gonna try out his other book, 'Johnny Gone Down' as well.

This book wont bore you instead is really witty & fast paced. While reading this book, i could relate to 'Joker In the Pack' novel which more or less talks about the student lives @ IIMs.

Wonderfully written book

Just finished reading this book and I must say it is one of the best books i have read in recent times (from an India Author). I felt of the new lot Chetan Bhagat was the best, but i must say Karan Bajaj is right up there amongst the best from India.
This book is beautifully written, with a wonderful message i.e to follow your heart in what you want to do instead of going with the flow which most us (including me :P) are doing (and sure will continue to so....which is sad but true)
A must read!!

The hostels and their inhabitants

You must have noticed that guys who lived in a hostel at some point of time in their life are more mature than who did not. There is a clear difference between these two categories. Similar in the way, that, army personals are more disciplined than the civilians.

This book, tells you the why of it. Guys, who have lived in hostel, will be able to better understand the book.

This is not Chetan Bhagat type masala/stupid heroism/love story novel. This book, will remind you, of some of your most brilliant/most daring/most stupid/most irritating and other most categories hostel mates. I guarantee you this.

Go, read it.

Okay-Okay Book

I actually first read the "Johny Gone Down" and was so impressed by the writiing for Mr. Bajaj that I ordered this book.

It is story of a guy whose is doing exceptionally well in life, is a top-notch banker in leading MNC. And one day, he decides to come to India for 'search' of his 'true-self'

Well, sounds like an interesting read, but it isn't. Most of the story drags in about the IIMs and him smoking pots.

Overall, I give it 2 stars. Okay read!

However, I'll highly recommend 'Johny Gone Down' by the same author.
