Kettle Creek

Kettle Creek is an introduction to a side of history that has drawn very little attention. And while it is a fiction, it is a fiction that could, and indeed did, happen many times and in many places. The American Indian involvement in the Civil War is an aspect that has drawn little herald. Undeniably, the Cherokee Mounted Rifles, led by General Stand Watie, was the very last Confederate Unit to surrender. The Cherokee Mounted Rifles was but one of a large number of American Indian Units, serving both in the Confederate and Union Armies.The post Civil War period changed the way of life for many people. And out of this change came many hard men. Some became notorious for their acts of crime. Others achieved an equal notoriety for their acts of valor and courage. And thus, it was with American Indians as well.
