A Touchy Journey

This is indeed a very touching story which made my eyes wet and brought a smile on my face at the same time. Once I started reading it, I could not leave it incomplete. I really liked the transformations in the story.

Title suits the book but this title is not sufficient to describe the book, even i couldn't think of a title which could cover the story. It is really very hard to find an appropriate title that could define the greatness and the quotient of love, nostalgia and touchiness that the story portrays.

Apart from all this, I couldn't deny laughing like hell while coming across those pranks and the idea of a "Teacher-getting ragged" really amused me a lot. I could literally visualize some of the scenes and could relate to my old classroom as well.

If a movie is made on this plot, I would love to see a movie on this one.

A good read

A lot of reviewers have been saying this book reminded them of their school story, but it didn't remind me of mind. That's not the author's or the book's fault; it is simply the fact that I went to a boys' only Military School where the instructors and teachers were all super khadoos and there were no pretty girls in the class.

Anyway, this books starts off great... it almost reminds me of "To Sir With Love" and a little of the movie "Stand & Deliver".

Overall, the story was good. However, the way the plot unfolds leaves a bit to be desired. In fact, for some par...

Anyway, this books starts off great... it almost reminds me of "To Sir With Love" and a little of the movie "Stand & Deliver".

Overall, the story was good. However, the way the plot unfolds leaves a bit to be desired. In fact, for some part it actually felt that there's no plot and it's simply one of those "slice of life" stories that don't need a plot... and till that point, I really loved it. However, the author probably felt the need to introduce suspense and intrigue into the story to give the plot some pace. It works, but at the expense of seeming forced.

Also, some characters seemed to have a promising development, but they were cut out with brutal abruptness (Tiara and Varghese). Again, it's surprising to see how Zutshi was enjoying the attentions of all, and yet seemed to pursue one who wasn't very aware of him (relatively), and yet suddenly the object of his affections changed out of the blue. It just felt forced to create conflict in the plot.

In the end, I felt it was a great book, with some really deep emotions at its core, but it lost its way somewhere down the middle, and ended up simply as a Sir Zutshi saves the day caper.

However, I recommend this book to all of you.

Also, I love Mr Joshi's writing style. It is very evolved compared to certain IIT-IIM authors who claim to be youth idols, but write terribly.

Touched

Good plot followed by an unexpected climax. This book is one of the few books which make you read them in one sit. However, the reason i liked it so much is not because of all the fun and charms, the irony of shiv or the way sir zutshi makes you laugh.
I liked it because of the way in which sir zutshi questioned himself for every move he made, he analysed his actions to ensure that he did not commit any immoral act. I mean the way he thought for everyone and questioning his own deeds to ensure the welfare of all is just wonderful and very rare. Usually people criticize others and they don't...

I mean the way he thought for everyone and questioning his own deeds to ensure the welfare of all is just wonderful and very rare. Usually people criticize others and they don't accept their faults and short comings in such a sporting manner and make efforts to rectify it. This is one thing that TOUCHED me the most among other things in the book. I really hope to adopt this quality in me.

Be notorious again!

Nice fictitious narrative about the relation between a teacher and his students which will bring alive your old memories of your school and make you remember those naughty days which one might be missing in this busy competitive world. Specially the way the concept of love has been put forward using those lively innocent characters will surely make you read the book at one go. Hats off to such teachers who make their students feel special and make our school life memorable. Specially liked the character of Sir Zuthsi, Natasha and notorious Prem Mathew. Do read!

Kick out the teacher

An engaging read...author touches almost the right cords highlighting the crushes which most teenage girls have on their teachers albeit he is more dramatic in his narration...romantic sub-plots and some childish pranks keep it entertaining throughout.....personally touched by mention of Varanasi...
