List-interested?

As school-children, we used to save our minuscule pocket money and invest them in posters and postcards of Sharukh, Amir and Madhuri Dixit, instead of SMS-top-ups, nailpaints or fuchkas. Bunking school meant movies, sometimes 3 consecutive shows of the same one. Corny marriage videos, ways to win that new girl in college, heartburns (read Madhuri Dixit didn’t marry me!!), quizzes, antaksharis, dumb-charades, trivias…Bollywood is omnipresent. This book is about the last one, trivia and a lot b...

Dil Chahta Hai--THIS BOOK!

Kitnay Aadmi Thay will fingers (and toes crossed) become the Dil Chahta Hai of our generation. It is cool, shuns away from The Formula, but is still reverential to the dictum that Script is King
(and will remain forever the book you wish you had written/film you had made).
Other than Desai's "Nehru's Hero Dilip Kumar: In the Life of India" I have yet to read anything that unpacks the tale of how life in South Asia imitates art and vice versa how/what we watched reflected the life and times ...

Excellent Read!

It is a very well composed book. Good content as well. A MUST-HAVE for all bollywood fans. Though the book has very rich content but still I would like to suggest to "Diptakirti Sir" to include more trivia in his next book. This book has much of lists, not so many trivias. That was the only let down for me (though I really enjoyed reading the book)

Great research, witty presentation and a genuine love for all things Bollywood is what strikes you when you turn the pages of this book. The experience is the same whether you read it from cover to cover or turn to any page at random.... Every page has a titbit which will surprise or amuse you. A good buy.

From Aankhen to Zanjeer

I have been an avid and a long-time reader of Diptakirti Chaudhuri's blog. Though I do not share his love for food or sports, I do love reading about his obsession with Bollywood. One has only to go through some random entries on his blog to realize it. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the man actually chose to write a book on it!

The first thing that strikes you about Kitnay Aadmi Thay (KAT) is that it has no contents section in the front and no index in the back. It is a completely rando...

Prerequisite to be called a Bollywood Fan!

If you have a passing interest in Bollywood, or trivia, or preferably both then you're sincerely better off reading or ordering the book right now than going through this review.

KAT is a Bollywood fan's wet dream come true. Like any blockbuster worth its salt it takes you by surprise with the depth of research in its very first chapter on opening credits over the years.

The entire book is divided into similar chapters which at first glance don't seem to be following much of a plot, but as...

Kitnay Aadmi Thay?

In India, movies are worshipped like a religion. No festivals or get together is complete without a movie. We are obsessed in knowing everything and anything that happens in the life of film stars.

Some movies are so real that we associate ourselves with the characters. And some would be so magnanimous that we wish we were like those characters. Some movies have been trend setters and some have been trend breakers. Some actors are worshipped as God and some are shunned to dark. Some star kid...

Not my Type..

The book specifies in details what 'Extraa Innings' states while showing movies on Sony and Sony-Max.....No kind of continuity or story telling. Seems like reading small magazine articles. Got bored and never tried reading again !!

Must read for a Bollywood fan

Read this book to:
Bring back memories of movies you haven't watched in years
Take the challenge of answering the cinebuff-quiz questions which the book poses and then answers
Know more trivia about the movies you have already seen and loved
Want to go back and revise the movies again

Awesome and easy to read, couldn't stop once started.
