    Description

Lady Chatterley’s Lover is a sensual romance novel by D. H. Lawrence.

    Summary of the Book

Constance Chatterley’s sexual life is brought to an end as her husband, Clifford Chatterley, an upper-class, handsome man returns from war, paralysed from the waist down. She begins to crave emotional and physical satiation of her lust, and begins an feisty affair with the gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. The affair reaches a fiery height, the likes of which Lady Chatterley has never experienced, and she feels herself satisfied through her bodily desires. Her lover leaves her exhausted, sweaty, and craving for more. She understands that despite the class-difference, she needs more than emotional satisfaction and ignoring her bodily desires will only kill her happiness. The novel was considered controversial and ahead of its time when it was first published, and the publications rejoiced in the verdict justifying the book, hailing the jurors as its saviors from a conservative mind not welcoming the unusual.

    Author Info
    • David Herbert Lawrence (1885-1930) was born at Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, fourth of the five children of a coal-miner and an ex-school teacher. He attended Nottingham High School and Nottingham University College. He grew up in considerable poverty. Emotional friction between the parents, and Lawrence’s close relationship with his mother, left important traces in his later writing. He was subject to illness, including lung infections, from a very early age and poor health dogged him throughout his life, culminating in his death from tuberculosis at the age of forty-four.After leaving school in 1901 Lawrence became a junior clerk in a surgical appliance factory for a brief period. From 1902 to 1906 he worked as a pupil teacher, at Eastwood and then at Ilkeston, saving the money necessary to take a training course at University College.

    Read it!!

This book tends to attract a lot of attention, not necessarily a lot of readers. The point is that it is a wonderfully written book on love and lust and the relationship of the two. Ultimately, the book is literature with a display of complex human emotions and believable circumstances, and it is about time that the book developed for itself some honest readers.

    Lady Chatterly's Lover

The text by D H Lawrence was gripping and unputdownable once I started. But I was disappointed that the beautiful painting on the front and back cover was not credited to the painter. There were a few avoidable and distracting typos and grammatical errors in the reprint. This is also true for a few other reprints by Peacock marketed by Flipkart. But I do want to read more of DHLawrence.

    Bad quality

Prospective readers should not go for Collins Classics because Collins is Cheap, Non durable, Print is hardly legible causing great strain for my eyes. Next time I will definitely go for Maple or Fingerprint editions

    More than the actual price

More than the actual price. The book's actual cost is only Rs.599. I seriously dont understand how these guys come up with their own price tags. Does not Flipkart verify anything rather than letting these so called sellers put whatever they want?
