Book: The Last Lecture
"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand."
--Randy Pausch

A lot of professors give talks titled "The Last Lecture." Professors are asked to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. And while they speak, audiences can't help but mull the same question: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we want as our legacy?

When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave--"Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams"--wasn't about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because "time is all you have...and you may find one day that you have less than you think"). It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living.

In this book, Randy Pausch has combined the humor, inspiration and intelligence that made his lecture such a phenomenon and given it an indelible form. It is a book that will be shared for generations to come.

*Struck a chord like no other book!
Review by Prashant Karhade
I finished this book in one sitting and I absolutely loved it! Every once in a while, my daughters would come to the bedroom and see me reading it, sometimes with tears rolling down my cheeks. And then they would ask me, "If it is making you cry, why are you reading it?" :-) I just told them, "You will understand it when you are 15 years old." I play this game with them when they ask me questions beyond their age. I tell them to ask me that same question when they are XYZ years old. We have a big list of questions ready already. :-)

Randy has some terrific and inspiring things to say. The narrative is damn good. But the circumstances in which the book was written is what makes it something else. No wonder that this book has become a phenomenon.

The reason why this book struck a chord like no other book was because I wrote my book "Memory Remains" with the exact same feeling! I am sure readers will see the similarities after reading both the books. Even our head fakes were the same! That's all I can say without revealing too much about my book. :-)

Randy Pausch died on 25th July 2008. Long live Randy Pausch!
*"Time is Very Precious".
Review by Sandeep Mehta
I loved the Novel and the way it was written. "Very Lucid". "No words" at all on this. When we know that we have only 1 month to live, so every second and minute become very very...precious for us. At some point I got bore but I have taken so many things from this Novel that surely going to help me grow and develovp my skills. The last few pages will bring the tears in your eyes as "Randy Pauch" dedicate his lecture to his wife and celebrate her "Birthday" with more than 400 people. My rate on this would be 8/10.......and........."Must Read". Missing will be loss of something..Valuable in life.
