Book: Learning Difficulties In Children In Indian context, one can find heterogeneous group of students with diversified needs in normal classroom set upt. Their class teachers effectively meet these diversified needs to a greater extent. Learning disability is the most recent classification of disability and still educators remain unsure about its nature of category. One can see a group of children with specific learning deficits in a normal classroom. Their teachers leave them unidentified and misunderstood as dull and lazy students. As a result, they are the potential dropouts and this also leads to stagnation. At this point, it is imperative to focus our attention on awareness/sensitization-building programmes, with competency-based training programmes, with comptency-based training programmes for the teacher both in-service and pre-service.

Dr. J. Sujathamalini completed her B.Sc., B.Ed., M.Ed. five year integrated course on Special Education and Physica from Avinashilingam Deemed University. Apart from Ph.D. in Education from Alagappa University, Karaikudi under the guidance of Dr. G. Lokanadha Reddy she holds a M.A. in Psychology from Annamalai University and Diploma in Information System and Management (APTECH). She worked as an intinerant teacher for children with visual impairment. She also served as a computer science teacher in Government Higher Secondary School, Kalliguid, Madurai. She was a research assistant in the Department of Education, Alagappa University Karaikudi under a project funded by Ministyr of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
