Different from the usual breed of authors - a fresh breezeIt was the subject of the book that made me order it and i wasn't quite sure as to what to expect from it since i hadn't read any of Anurag's earlier works. The book however came as a pleasant surprise and by the end of the first chapter i knew that i was going to spend a better part of my Friday night in finishing it - which i eventually did.

More than an engaging read!I had black-listed the publisher, Srishti Books, because of one of their titles i had accidently picked up. I think it was called... Few Things Left Unsaid... or something like that! A horrible book with terrible language and a nonsensical story line that had turned me off bigtime and i had vowed never to experiment with the so called 'bestsellers' from this particular publisher. However it was the subject of the book, The Legend of Amrapali that made me take one more punt and i was glad that i did so.

A great readI picked this book simply because I was intrigued by the subject of the book - Amrapali. And I must say that I am not disappointed. The author has presented the story beautifully and Amrapali's character has been crafted really well. Though the plot is simple and since the book is short there are not too many twists and turns, but still it is enjoyable. I was compelled to check out more historical information about Amrapali's life after reading the book. Kudos to Anurag for weaving together history and fiction fantastically.

A Good Book to Read.A gripping tale with linkages into our history. Well worded to create the landscape in mind with the emotions and all being personified by each character. The climax is good and enthralling. All in all a good work by Anurag Anand.

One of the best books i have read in a long time..Amrapali, we all know is an enigma and her grandoise life has been presented in various forms time and again. Only, most of the litreature available treats her like a larger than life entity, a girl who was 'meant' to be what she became. However, this was the first book where i could read and visualise the trauma of a normal young girl and her plight as she embarked on a path that eventually made her the 'Nagarvadhu' we know.

Worth to admireThe Legend of Amrapali is a book that will take you to the high of well designed literature. It has all the grip you want in a book. You will enjoy it and surprised by it's so mature language.

The Legend Of AmrapaliThis book is really good..facinating story composed with rather beautiful vocab..one of those books I have been glued to from the first page to the last (partly maybe cos i am a voracious reader.. )But not only does it potray a different shade of the history we are quite acquainted with, but the persona and emotional turmoil of a Nagarvadhu.

Nice theme but could have been lot betterGreat theme and nice story. It is emotional at places and touching overall. The author writes well all along but misses the pulse at places. He could have elevated the emotions throughout and could have created a more gripping tale. There are a few instances where the book leaves it to the readers to explain a few unconnected dots (or it is just a mistake!).

Interesting work of historical fictionAfter reading books like Immortals of Meluha and Chanakyas Chant, i have found my interest in the historical fiction genre soaring. I was looking for a title that could match up to the ones that i had recently read and could match up to them when i stumbled across The Legend of Amrapali. And after reading the book i can happily state that it not only managed to live up to my expectations but also surpass them.

History Comes Alive with AnuragVijayanthimala Bali as Amrapali was truly enchanting in the movie ages ago. Her beauty was mesmerizing and the character enchanting. Nothing could beat that visual treat or so I had thought. But I was mistaken. Anurag Anand's Amrapali rises from the ravishing mound of the written word like a young woman in all her feminine glory and self-respecting valor. When I finally finished reading, The Legend Of Amrapali, I was left wanting for more.
