Lenovo Essential G580 (59-324061) Laptop (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 500GB/ DOS)

i have bought this laptop,used it for 9 hours straight and not heard a single buzzing,annoying sound.This laptop doesn't heat up..battery backup is 4.5 hours (give or take).wifi is good.even the webcam is great.keyboard is spacious,with numpad.:).
usb 3.0 ports,just awesome.sound is clear even at full volume.
the best part is the processor,ITS AMAZING..all the installations were done comparatively fast.
value for money laptop..
in a nutshell---> 1. It is COOL (doesnt heat up at all)
2. It is FAST (i5,3rd generation,;-))
3. It is GORGEOUS (cherry black colour)
4. It is below 35K.

This is the ivy bridge version of the intel platform and is about 21% faster and about 13% more power efficient than the I5 2nd gen. Even though the same configurations in I5 till date is selling for about 30K , why not spend another 3 thousand and get the latest and very best, I5 3rd generation, 4GB,HDMI, USB3.0 Ports , and the good build quality of lenovo laptops. its a steal deal , yes you might have a bigger and better gamut of laptops in about a months time but if you are planning to buy a laptop now , flipkart is the place, I review gadgets technically at forumsDotasksktDotcom and there is no better place to buy than the flipkart in India today. do not get lured by the offers of timtara or you will never ever get your products, flipkart is the only reliable and most responsible online shopping portal in India today. Just Go for it

I bought this around the time it was priced 33.3K. I even remember seeing a win home basic version, which was later changed to DOS.
Performance:
1. Good for mkv(1080p)
2. 30+ tabs in browser.
3. Multiple applications.(had 3 vs2010 and a eclipse ide open. had no troubles). I was under the impression that these level of tasks were only possible with i-7 range. This i-5 is good enough for me.
4. virtual pc works good. win xp mode is not an overload on resources.
5. One external monitor is when 4000 hd graphics starts to tire. At 1080p with both built-in display(native res) and external monitor on, videos played fine. But there was a small lag on commands. With output only to external monitor, there was no issue.
6. Machine is very silent. Battery life at best will be around 3.5 hours. Bottom gets hot enough to be uncomfortable for use after some time. Top is never hot.

touch pad could be better. buttons very tight. Palm recognition not great in touchpad.

Freebies are useless. Mouse is wired one. Bag looked small. I am not a fan backpacks anyway.

Camera could have been better.

Display is alright. Usual problems with glossy displays. Don't find any difference with those different types of glossy display types.

For the price point it was a very good buy. Next in category are 2nd gen i5 with 520mx graphics cards. intel hd4000 beats 'em easily apart from being more energy saving. This is a no brainer for the class right now. Apart from having a better cpu.
Audio is decent. Not unduly bad.

dvd drive has a little play. It goes inside a little when pressed.
4* only bcoz of the stupid lenovo sticker which is impossible to remove on palm rest.

I was searching for laptop with decent price and good performance.So goggled lots of online reviews and found lenovo is best when it comes to price and built quality.

So ordered on Friday through flipkart and within two days.Laptop was delivered.I am great fan of flipkart and there services.because i am ordered many things form this site and service is good.

Now coming back to Laptop review.

On paper this laptop looks very good for the price.
For
Built quality is good and looks very nice.Even interface is good.

Cons

1. You cant install XP O.S(works very fine on windows 7)
2. touch pad makes noise with you click left or right button.
3. Linux drivers and avaliable only for red hat and few other O.S.I have faced lots of problem after installing Ubuntu 11.04 or 12.04 on this problem.like unable to connect to internet via cable.

4. Battery back is given as 5 hours.but it will last for ~ 3 hours

Still doing research on this laptop.I hope i have made good choice by selecting this laptop.

Its good for Windows not so good for Linux users.

At first time when I was planning to purchase Laptop then I was sure with Dell product because my friends are using and quality is awsome in every aspect but I wanted to purchase in DOS based so I have gone to the lenovo exclusive store and found that lenovo is the only brand which is compatible with all the Operating systems and I have gone through the review about new lenovo G580 series in i5 processor(3rd generation) DOS based macine.I was very happy when I purchased this product directly form the exclusive store in 33.5K ; Now when I installed the Windows 7 Ultimte then video quality is bad and I coordinated with the technical support of lenovo and found that they are very much helping in order to resolve the issue of customers and they have suggested to replace the product as well.
So, Is there anybody who is also facing the issue with video quality then please let me know the solution or by mistake I have purchased the defaulted piece of G580/i5/Dos machine.
Apart from this issue every thing is awesome only concern with picture quality is bad( getting dark shadow on the youtube HD video songs), Audio quality is best.
