DEFECTIVE SCREEN

I have got this mobile from a retailer but not from Flipkart(regret for that), just to get a hands on experience of the mobile. I was taken away by the big screen, battery backup and decent camera quality for which I purchased the mobile. But after a few weeks (2-3 weeks) I could see the SCREEN FLICKER clearly when it has a light background (white or pink) in full brightness, this is a big issue and does not seem to improve even after restarting the mobile. When i googled about this, I could see lot of people complaining about this issue in LENOVO FORUMS. I have returned my phone for servic... ()

But please dont buy it now till LENOVO solves the issue.

The best in Class and VALUE for money

Dear Friends,

I have been using a Samsung Grand DUOS for last 4 months and unfortunately managed to break it to an extent that it could not be repaired. The next 20 days was a hectic task of researching what will be the best bet offering value to my hard earned money. Initially I settled with Sony Xperia M and was almost final to buy it until I reviewed Lenevo P780. I finally bought this master piece at 17400 some 2 months back. Ever since I had owned it, I wanted to write review to help others as I got extended support from some of the existing owners through their reviews on GSMArena.co...

Ever since I had owned it, I wanted to write review to help others as I got extended support from some of the existing owners through their reviews on GSMArena.com and they were kind enough to leave their phone numbers.

The only reason I delayed writing this post was to be sure of all features, capabilities and performance and then write something on it. I have many times found people writing a review the same day and finding their experience otherwise at a later time.

This piece of machine is an outcome of Lenevo's marvelous engineering, as we saw in Notebooks! They have simply not assembled it and stamped it as their brand. There seems to a lot of hard work that they have put in to make it what it is. I can fairly compare samsung grand with this phone and can make an obvious difference in look, feel and performance. It beats Samsung with a huge margin and I can't dream of Samsung matching it in the same price range.

The phone works express fast with fully loaded applications, has a silk touch when you touch the screen and the body all around gives a very professional look.

The Quad core processor makes all applications, internet move along in a wink of eye with a great download speed. The android Jelly Bean has been customized to build in many intelligent features which offers significant convenience.

How can I forget to mentioned what Samsungs are known to trouble the most - More than you talk, you need to charge! With this phone I travel for 3 days without a charger and it shows some 40% remaining on battery meter when I return home!! It has an amazing back up with 4000 mah battery and comes with a pwer house feature which allows you to charge other devices from its battery like Samsung. You can always help your friend who made a mistake of buying samsung and now off the charge.

The only downside of this phone is its 4 GB internal storage, which is still manageable with so many advantages. Now that you have an 8GB in market, you may consider that instead. The other one is that 1 out of 20 times its GPS location is not accurate to an extent of a Kilometer which needs to be tapped again and next time it shows exact location.

All in all, this is a great choice to make and I am sure you will not regret the choice you made. Shall you need more information, feel free to write me on vikas216 at yahoo dot com with subject line Info Required in Lenevo P780 and I will be happy to answer your questions.

Motherboard went KAPUT in 3 weeks !!!

I bought this phone after owning a Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 (which got snatched, thanks to NCR thugs) and therefore, was did extensive research for replacement which was easier on pocket could match Grand 2 80% in performance. P780 seemed to fit the bill - at least on paper. I bought it from a Lenovo Store and things seems to work fine for a while, but starting third week, I inexplicably started losing reception on both sims. I rattled my service providers - Vodafone and Idea - and got their engineers to check the signal strength around my house and office. All was well with them. The Lenovo... ()

The Lenovo store guy as worse than Zero help. I took the phone to the service center, who after a much prolonged "investigation" broke the news about a dead mother board - with a smile !! (as if to mock me - "you fell for this phone, now suffer"). What is worse is I met 3 more guys during my 120 minute stay at the service center with identical issue. Things got only more horrid when the store manager calmly explained if the issue is not fixed in 2 weeks, they will give me a replacement - something they have done for two other users in last week (so this issue is that prevalent !)
I mean, the phone specs for this price are good. Build quality is excellent. UI is fresh, though takes time to get used to, battery life is PHENOMENAL, but all that quickly reduces to zero (if not negative) with a worse-than-the-rest mother board and a non-helpful at best to positively-hostile service and store staff.
And the fact that around 20% of all complaints in that center (which also servers HCL) were with P780, my humble advice to you would be - PLEASE GIVE IT A PASS !!
Let Lenovo prove itself a bit more in the marketplace (give them 12-18 months) and until then, please stick with Samsung or other proven brand

# You have a very bad Network issue.
# I am using Vodafone service, my house is very close to Vodafone tower and my phone shows no service. Whereas I was getting full signal with other phones.
# Frequent call drop, if we are just talking non-sense with friends than its OK. What if we are attending a telephonic interview call or a telephonic conference with clients or a telephonic team meeting and this frequent disconnect is a pain in the ***
# Trust me in this past one month I never got good 3G signal. This phone stinks if it comes to 3G.
# Some times I can able to hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me.
# Some people have also complained me that my phone was not reachable on many occasions.

The over all conclusion based on my experience about this phone is;

1) It is a good mini tab
2) It is a BAD phone

No matter what kind of development happens or what kind of advancement happens to a mobile phone, THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE PHONE IS TO TALK, IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO TALK, IT IS NOT A PHONE.

I give only 2 star for this.

I prefer Lenovo p780 over Micromax a116 as both have almost exact specification except the battery and with a 3k difference in price..

Here are some unedited images captured by me..
