Who Let the Dork Out? (Paperback) Price: Rs.138

Who Let The Dork Out? is the final novel of the Dork series, and revolves around the protagonist, Robin ‘Einstein’ Varghese, who is asked by the Indian PM to save the Allied Victory Games.

Summary Of The Book

Who Let The Dork Out?, published in 2012, is the third book of the Dork series. These novels present a satirical picture of Indian politics and the management consulting industry.

In Who Let The Dork Out?, readers will realize that the Allied Victory Games, which will be held in New Delhi, are just twelve months away. Much like the real-life Commonwealth Games, the author shows how the Ministry for Urban Regeneration and Public Sculpture is completely unprepared. This department was founded by the PM specifically to oversee that the preparations take place on time, but the ministry is way behind schedule. As always, the politicians are playing the blame game, as the media continues to brew a huge controversial storm.

The department has even forgotten that the sport of Taekwondo is also a part of AVG. Badrikedar Laxmanrao Dahake, a minister in charge of the Games, finds himself being questioned by journalists, Lok Sabha members, and a persistent BBC reporter who conducts all his interviews in English. To make matters worse, Dahake also has to deal with the Prime Minister. He decides that the best way out of this chaos is to resign from his post. However, to his surprise, Robin ‘Einstein’ Varghese is bought in to clean up the mess. This man is an international financial genius, an expert strategist, and media specialist. He is the head of the Delhi Lederman office, and becomes the unlikely savior of the Games.

Who Let The Dork Out? shows how Robin has evolved from a complete dork in the first two books, to being someone who is high up in the corporate world. The novel also tells the story of his relationship with Gouri, and his difficulties in trying to win over her uncle, Colonel Kalbag.

Who Let The Dork Out? contains powerful satire, and witty twists and turns in the story line. This book is sure to keep readers engaged till the very end.

Thank you all

Dear everyone who has left a comment here:

Thank you so much for taking the time to buy and read the book. This may not be my first book. But every time I complete one and send it off to press, I am in pieces. This is because I am certain that nobody will ever buy a single copy, and that I will spend the rest of my life seeing dusty old copies of the book in bookstores everywhere. Staring at me in the face anc cackling.

It is a terrible thought. So, really, thank you for buying. The relief is considerable.

But also thank you for coming back and leaving a comment. This is a most generous thing to do, irrespective of whether you liked it or not.

I come here often and read all the comments. I know that some of you felt the ending was abrupt. This was an idea I toyed with for some time while writing the book. And the ending was intentionally abrupt. I thought it felt a little more realistic that way. But duly noted. Shall try harder next time.

Also did you think there was too much profanity? Sorry yaar. (DO NOT GIVE IT TO KIDS TO READ.)

And if you didn't like the book at all, well I'd be glad to recommend other authors if you want. And I will work harder when I am writing my next book.

So do keep reading. And do keep writing here or to me with your thoughts. Stay in touch.

P.S. I am going to give myself four stars in this review. Adipoli.

Sidin's back - the best book in the trilogy!

The first book set the pace beautifully with a refreshingly different narrative and very Sidin-like humour. The second in the series underwhelmed with a predictable plot and an annoying central character.

Sidin had quite a task on his hands when Dork 3 was to be written, and boy, does he meet it.

The book follows the elements that made the series unique - Diary entries, first person, random Mallu entries, a clueless and cocky lead character - but eliminates the pitfalls of the second book (too many sub-plots, needless characters, typo errors).

Dork 3, make no mistake, is a hilarious read, and a satisfying conclusion to the Dork trilogy. The story is superb, structured and is all paced around one thing - the 2010 Games which Robin's company is helping the government conduct - which makes it all seem cohesive.

But to me what stood out from the book was the very subtle and powerful satire that Sidin makes, throughout the book. Like the politician who tried so very hard to get into Tihar Jail to advance his career (after realising how many powerful people were there and how much easier it was getting their time here than outside), or the names of the food served at Tihar's canteen (Anticipatory Bhel, Quattarocheese Pizza).

Anyway, enough of this review. This is a fantastic read, incredible value for money at the Flipkart price.

You will laugh out loud, at least once.

PS: Keep a Mallu friend handy to translate the random phrases that Robin breaks out into.

The Return of The King, The Dark Knight Rises, Toy Story 3, Who Let The Dork Out...

...you get the general idea. Dork 3 (Who Let The Dork Out) is one of those third parts of a trilogy that satisfyingly closes the series without trying to be unnecessarily gimmicky.

If you're not familiar with the adventures of Robin 'Einstein' Verghese, here's an initiation - he's a bumbling consultant turned banker in the Inspector Closeau mould who somehow scores epic wins despite being really sucky at his job.

Sidin vadukut's creation of a universe of office culture satire story that spans three books is relentlessly funny (even with the Malayali in-jokes that find their way in on every second page) and this time the scope of the story grows to not just satirize corporate culture but include the highest echelons of the Government too!

Sidin's observational humor and the ability to blend all sorts of current topics (the CWG mess, the PM, the economic crisis, scams - everything finds a reference) into the story with a typical 'Robin' twist is the reason why Dork is such a funny and breezy read. There are even hilarious celebrity cameos! And the story is pretty solid too, enough suspense and twists keep coming to keep you hooked. The satire I thought played out much better than the first two books in this one because some it bordered on that 'so implausible;le that it's plausible' zone.

If you're a Sidin fan from his columns, twitter account or the earlier 'Dork' book, you must pick this one up. I read it in almost one go and could hardly stop smiling all through!

Sidin: Back with a bang

Sidin has a very unique style of writing, that makes things very humorous. While Dork 1 was an amazing read, Dork 2 failed to hit those levels, though it was a good read as well.

Dork 3 is quirky, full of satire (Anticipatory Bhel!) and has a very story line that any person can relate to, given the corruption levels in today's India. Robin becomes the bumbling, Mallu-spewing, actress-loving (Anushka this time, and boy, for an Anushka-fanboi like me, the descriptions of her were amazing!) Consultant.

His work and love issues are high on humor as well, in typical Sidin style. The book passes quickly and leaves you wanting more!

In short, Dork 3: Must Read.

Waiting for Sidin's next!

Dork is Back with a BANG!!!!

Sidin takes us through one hell of a ride in the life of "Einstien". The plot includes his race against time, situation(s) and collegues to be a youngest CEO of his firm. Helping the ever ready Goverment of INDIA to organize a global event against a media loving to critize all the mishaps along the way.
Along with these events he is to deal with all the nagging of his girlfriend and take on a gang of her equally crazy relatives to show them he is the best guy for her.
To all the FANS of the dork series, this is the best book by far.
to all the readers...go for it, its just hilarious!!!
