Life...Love...Kumbh..., written by Aporva Kala, is a tale that will force readers to reexamine their priorities in life and seek a spiritual rebirth.

    Summary Of The Book

Annant, Aditi, and Agastaya, are the protagonists of this book. In Life...Love...Kumbh..., on the fateful day of January 13, 2010, which is the first day of the Maha Kumbh Mela at Haridwar, the paths of all the three individuals cross, setting the whole story in motion. As Aditi, Annant, and Agastaya get to know one another, each character discovers his or her need for love, togetherness, and passion.

Life...Love...Kumbh... is narrated in a monologue style. The author’s decision to set the tale against the backdrop of the Kumbh Mela puts the story in a path towards religious and spiritual awareness. As the three protagonists get to know each other, their destinies also become intertwined.

After the three characters meet each other and exchange their stories, they reminisce about the bygone days and are feeling unsure about their futures. Through Anant, Aditi, and Agastaya, Kala introduces secondary characters such as Sameer, Jorden, and Minnie, which heightens the proportions of the story. As the culmination of the Kumbh Mela nears, the three protagonists are pushed into challenging situations which will force them on the path of self development. The trio will be forced to face the challenges of living and longing, loving and leaving, and somehow avoid the cycle of Karma. Each character will also be forced into introspection and to seek his or her path for Yogic excellence.

The book is written in an inventive and lucid style, citing plenty of references from Hindu and Greek mythologies. This book will be a source of great inspiration for people in romantic relationships, and for parents.

    wowowowow...

A lovely read, which would linger long in my heart. I didn't expected it to be such a deep book, but to my pleasant surprise i was soon sucked into the charms of Kala's writings. Despite little foibles, which the author claims, life is full, of the book guides us deftly into the world of love, learning and gives us all a reason to think for our purpose in life. It talks of peace and brotherhood. What i liked about the writings is the way Kala challenges us to take life as it comes and to full...

    ITS DIFFERENT...

The author has experimented with language, philosophy, yog, emotions, passions and the setting of religion..to great effect!! At first i was circumspect but the story slowly but surely engulfed me and i enjoyed every bit of aporva kala's writings..
    MUST READ...
You would enjoy it if you are a lover of good indian fictoin and not a re-hash of age old story telling style.
The author writes with verve so reminiscent of the writers of eighteenth century England.
I was also taken up by the cause...

rocking book! but b patient with the story!

It is not the run of the mill we usually come from indian authors writing in english. The subject is novel, the language is refined and the thoughts are deep.
A simple story of three persons and their intertwined lives has been used by the author to paint a canvass of love and emotions of passions and gender shadow boxing.
The philosophical and psychological sides of the story is delicately and sensitively handled.
One of the reviewers here write that there is no need to review this book, ...

    AWESOME INDIAN AUTHORING...

Much has already been said about this book by various reviewers at flipkart and elsewhere and, i am sure much would be written as the book catches up with lovers of good writings..
In India, at present there are three set of authors,
    a) one who rewrite the mythological tales adding their own twist to it, much like cooking a dish for the public's palate and markets...THERE IS NOTHING NEW OR CREATIVE ABOUT THEM.
b)Writers who pick up so called contemporary issues and claim to have delved deep...

    Philosophy and all that ............

Was not sure whether i wanted to read it in the first place after going through the first few pages. then got hooked.
    philosophy: yes
    difficult: yes
but then who said such books are for the masses. well written aporva, good attempt and successful. inspired me to take out my motorcycle from its hibernation and take it on the winding hills.
incidents that make life interesting and incidents that force us to take it seriously. wonderfully curving from determinism to probability-ism and back to d...

    GOOD BOOK

i found this book unique and full of wonder. the language is inventive and i needed re-reads to get to the idea behind them. The writer picks up Kumbh as a symbol of unity and peace. Also the real time gives it the scope for examining the current turmoil in the country. It has opened up my mind in the miasma of Indianess and all that our culture stands for!!
the love story with the dead girl Nina is beautifully handled.
Philosophy becomes a source of inspiration. The reference on yoga is se...

    OPENS UP ONE

on a friend's recommendation i read this book, borrowing from him only and i am lucky that i read it. a wonderful book for a dee pinsight into love, life and the philosophy of living. it is very different from what we get from the stables of new indian writers writing in English. A master craftsman is at work, as the language philosophy, yoga and emotions become the handmaiden of the writer as he goes about penning his book. the passions are raw and honest. three cheers for the writer in upho...

    MUST READ

I found the reading experience of the book life..love..kumbh.. a wonderful experience. I borrowed it from my institute's library and was immediately hooked by its weaving of a beautiful love story and lyrical prose. The author paints a serene picture of the Kumbh festival at haridwar, but the actual Kumbh bath doesn't begin!! There is the expectation of the greatest congregation of the earth. Through the Kumbh festival, he examins, philosophy, yog, capitalism and culture of our country. The s...
