Life is What you Make It (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.55

Life Is What You Make It is a fictional story about a strong female character whose life takes unexpected turns and how she uses her indomitable spirit to make the most of it.

Summary Of The Book

Life Is What You Make It is a story about a young female protagonist whose life gets shaken by her destiny in a highly unexpected manner. Set across two Indian cities in 1989, the story begins when Ankita is shown to be reading letters that she exchanged with Vaibhav. And here onward, the reader is taken on a flashback story that relates the life of Ankita and how she ended up in a hospital.

Ankita is in her twenties and belongs to a conservative middle class family. Her parents are so strict that they do not even like her being friends with guys. She is a smart, career-oriented, confident, young, attractive, sweet, and happy go lucky girl. She has lots of friends and is wooed by many boys at her college. Her college life is what every youngster dreams of but Ankita does not underestimate the importance of studies as well. She secures a seat in a leading management school. She is one of the most happening girls in the college. However, at times she is haunted by some issues that she faced in her past.

Life seems to be sailing smooth for Ankita until one fine day when she is admitted to a mental hospital. Life suddenly snatches everything that Ankita had in her world in a cruel twist of fate. How did things change so badly? How will Ankita take this sudden blow of destiny? Will she survive it? Will she ever be able to live a normal life?

A love story at heart, this tale of unconquerable human spirit shows how Ankita does not succumb to her destiny and decides to fight back. It is an inspiring and moving account of determination and faith as Ankita challenges what destiny throws at her. It is a story that makes the reader question the very concepts of sanities and teaches the fact that life is what one makes of it. Moreover, the simple language and narration of Life Is What You Make It emphasizes that problems are never permanent and it is one’s spirit that can carve the path to one’s life.

Very True 'Life is what u make it'

I ordered this book from Flipkart around two months back. But yesterday I opened it finally. And also completed in just one sitting.
I liked the starting and the way author created the suspense. I kept guessing the reason and was proved wrong at the end. Its very well written and is also a lesson for people who try to commit suicide. It tells you how important is your life and its very easy to enjoy it.
All depend on you how you move forward. There will be situations in your life when you are highly frustrated but its all part of life. In book she got the doctor but in real life you get so...

All depend on you how you move forward. There will be situations in your life when you are highly frustrated but its all part of life. In book she got the doctor but in real life you get someone and you dont even realize to thank her for saving your life.
Author described the kind of pain in stomach, its very much similar to a guilt feel or a kind of frustration which we feel when things are not in our favor or when some betray us or even you betray someone for a selfless reason.
I liked the way author portrays the feeling of a person to damage her body to get rid of the mental pain.
Its a must read. Hats off to Preeti Shenoy

LIFE IS WHAT U MAKE IT ????? What importance does that hold when the main character of the story did nothing at all to improve her life .... all she did was to take it to the lowest levels possible .... Jo bhi kiya doctors ne kiya .....

Seriously , IF YOU R LOOKING FOR AN INSPIRATIONAL NOVEL TO READ U R ON THE WRONG PAGE ...... it never took me longer to finish one novel in my life ....

i have to give it one star coz its d minimal possible rating .... trust me its not even worth that ....

FLIPKART , as usual , rocks with its excellent delivery service .... i got the ordered books in less than 24 hrs :)

Highly Disappointing. Not worth buying even for 60 rupees

I read this book, or more accurately tried to read this book. I was unable to finish this book because the author Preeti Shenoy tests your patience through an average story and horrible writing.

This book is an example of how poor some of the present Indian writing is, especially with some of these overnight "bestselling" Authors.

I passed this book to some of my friends and asked them to read. Not just me, even they found this book to be a piece of useless writing.

Hate to be a bit harsh, but the truth is 'Life is what you make it' is not worth spending even 60 rupees. If...

Giving a rating of 1 as I can't rate it to 0 or negative rating.

This review might answer most of your questions about this book.Hope so!!!

I have got delivered this book within the 2 days of my order and a great salute to the delivery team of flipkart once again. well,How this book differs from others is that the narrator is a lady and the story starts with the protagonists infatuation which lasts for quite a long time with her school mate, then comes her love with her peer and its break up,then her short-time date with another guy and her bipolar disorder suffering due to parental pressure and her cure of the same. finally, let me jot down its plus and minus.
plus:
* It would be the way the story is narrated with lots of twists...

plus:
* It would be the way the story is narrated with lots of twists and turns.
* It portrayed how Indian girls are suffering in parental pressures(must read for parents).
* Her treatment episode is lovely. Preethi could have made a separate book alone with this.
minus:
* The first and foremost would be the dragging episode of the protagonists suffering of the disorder.
* The character of the lead could have been designed well so that it can adhere to Indian traditions.
* The proper reason for the leads suffering of the disease haven't been revealed.
* The usage of vocabularies could have been much better.
* The captions used in the book doesn't abide by the story much.
Finally, I must say that this book is worth a read and i am awarding this *** stars.

Unimpressive & Uninspiring

I had bought this book after reading many good reviews here. But I was highly disappointed after reading it. Though the summary might sound intriguing and deep, it deals with everything that life is in a very shallow manner. The first half is pure popcorn affair, while the second half is dry and bland. The writing is pretty average and at times quite amateurish. The story of Ankita doesn't inspire you or move you at all. The only good thing about this book is its price. But then, wasn't that one of the reasons I was tempted to buy it?!!
This one can be easily skipped.
