The Light at the End of the Tunnel is a poetic journey that allows the reader into the dark and sorrowful world of the author. The poems in the beginning are sad, depressive, self-loathing, and often bitter and angry. Here the author shares her most personal moments of heartache, depression, self-loathing, and suicide attempts. It is not for the weak of heart. The book then moves into a gray area that is more exploratory of the author's soul. She ponders the color of the sky to the power in the color of a child's eyes and the hold they have over her. Finally, we begin to see a glimmer of hope. There is a light up ahead and she follows it. The reader follows along with the author through love poems and admiration of nature, music, and art to the final poem where, at last, she finds where she belongs.
