The Lord Of The Rings (Set Of 3 Titles) 1st Edition (Paperback) Price: Rs.849

The Lord Of The Rings (Set Of 3 Titles) is a collection of all the three books in J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic trilogy about Sauron, a Dark Lord, and his quest of a magical, all-powerful ring.

Summary Of the Book

The Lord Of The Rings (Set Of 3 Titles) is a set of the three titles in Tolkien’s bestselling high fantasy series. The novel is divided into a total of three volumes, spanning six books, two per volume.

The novel is set in a fictional universe called middle-earth. A Dark Lord named Sauron harbors the ambition to conquer and reign over all of middle-earth. He creates a powerful ring called the One Ring to control the Rings Of Power, several magical rings created under Sauron’s guidance. Sauron is the main antagonist in the novel, and the titular character of the series as well.

In The Hobbit, the prequel to The Lord Of The Rings, the One Ring leaves Sauron’s hand. The Lord Of The Rings covers Sauron’s quest to reclaim the One Ring coupled with the continued efforts of the West to foil his ambitious plans.

The first volume is titled The Fellowship Of The Ring. It begins at Bag End with the birthday celebrations of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo leaves all his possessions to Frodo, his adopted heir. Frodo eventually learns that the ring he received as part of his legacy is actually the powerful One ring belonging to Sauron. On the advice of a wizard named Gandalf, Frodo sets out on a mission to ensure the safety of the ring. Several hobbits, dwarves, wizards, and elves join hands to keep the ring from falling into Sauron’s hands.

The second volume, The Two Towers, focuses on the betrayal of a wizard named Saruman, who switches to the Dark side and pledges his allegiance to Sauron. Subsequently, Frodo travels east with the ring, and unwittingly walks into danger.

In the third and final volume, The Return Of The King, the journey of the ring culminates in a decisive showdown that could result in the victory of good over evil, or it could backfire and the dark forces could end up conquering all. This volume contains many appendices that provide a wealth of background information on the story.

The Lord Of The Rings was first released in 1954. With sales of over 150 million copies, it is the third best-selling novel ever. It has been translated into numerous languages and has also been reprinted several times over. Its film, theater, and radio adaptations have won numerous awards. The book continues to form the basis of a variety of ancillary products in the form of video games, artwork, music, and more.

For 1st time readers

The Lord of the Rings is a book which you can read any number of times and still find something new. I read it almost 7-8 times, everytime I go home. Its more than a book and i rarely suggest a new reader(fearing disrespect for the book). 1st time I completed the book within 10hrs, but now i require more than 40 hrs to get the meaning to each word, songs, etc. I tell you(those who have seen only its movie) that you have known less than 50% about Lord of the Rings.

A Surreal Journey

This, JRR Tolkien's magnum opus, will take you to a surreal world that cannot just be illustrated with words. This edition containing all three of the series also contains a lot of extra material that could be used for better understanding of the world of The lord of the rings. A must for all those who're into the genre of 'high-fantasy'.

Lord of novels

I was so unlucky for the tryst with this book happened 25 years after my birth.
Fascinated by peter jackson's LOTR triology i was hunting for the book for the past 3 years in many book stores. Atlast it came to me via flipkart neatly packed in cardboard case. I bought it 3 months back at a much cheaper rate. Though the price has increased this is the best price i could find at present for this edition.
This edition is well bound, strong and could withstand wear and tear.
Regarding the book, this is the best novel i ve ever read. HP fans who boast it must read LOTR and judge. Such an excellent imagination of a whole new world, races and beasts have never been printed. It is not a children's fantasy novel, even an octogenarian 'd be fascinated by it. Its no surprise that this book is the 2nd largest seller so far after dicken's 'tale of two cities'.. refer wiki..

regards,
pradeep.

There and back again

i ordered it from flipkart long time ago and recieved it within an day or two i don't remember. The first time i laid my hands on it i felt magic stir within me
this is a sort of book no not a book but a legacy left by tolkien which can make u feel small and large all at the same time.
this is a book for everybody and everybody should read at least once . the wars, the travells , and the deaths will feel real so real that u may even just cry. once u finish this one read the other works by tolkien on middle like silmarion, the hobbit, and all . the will bring u back to middle earth and u wont have to say good bye to friends there. By the way LOTR has only been outsold by the Bible and i thin Agatha Christie

The Lord Of The Rings

It is impossible to match The Lord of the Rings in depth of detail. This is one of Tolkien's masterpieces. The story has everything you could ask for. Tolkien's imagination is unparalleled and unrivaled. It draws on a lot of matter from The Silmarillion, which will make the reader even more inquisitive. The appendices are also extremely interesting and give just the smallest hints of the world that Tolkien created. The poems in the book are fantastic. For those who truly love reading, there isn't a better book to be found.
