Lost Hero (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.248

Heroes Of The Olympus: The Lost Hero is a fantasy adventure novel based on Roman and Greek mythology.

Summary Of The Book

The first in a series of novels titled Heroes of The Olympus, the book was written in an attempt to unravel several untouched Roman and Greek myths.

Heroes Of The Olympus: The Lost Hero begins with Jason returning to consciousness on a school bus next to Piper, his girlfriend, and Leo, his best friend. Jason is suffering from memory loss and can’t recollect many things. As the trip proceeds, the trio and the coach are attacked by Dylan, a classmate who turns into a storm spirit. Jason, to everyone’s surprise, turns one of his coins into a sword and fights with it. The fight ends with Coach Hedge, actually a satyr, being taken captive by a spirit and a flying chariot arriving to pick the trio up. However, a classmate Annabeth is upset when she finds that her boyfriend, whom she had come looking for as directed by Goddess Hera, is not amongst them.

After returning to the camp, the trio discovers that they are all demigods and are assigned the task of rescuing Hera, who has been captured. During the operation, they meet several gods and Jason also meets his sister, who he had been separated from at the age of two.
The trio seek the help of their respective parents to rescue Hera. However, after the same, the King of Giants rises with Hera’s energy and disappears down under the earth when Hera attempts to kill him. Will Jason comprehend what these occurrences mean? Will he be able to overcome the memory loss he suffered initially? All these questions and more are answered in this book.

Heroes Of The Olympus: The Lost Hero received rare accolades and won the Barnes & Noble award for the best book in 2010 and also remained a bestseller for quite some time.

COMPLETELY AWESOME!!!

The book is awesome really - better than all three books. All demigods show their talents through several occasions while Percy and Annabeth wander the deadly realm of Tartarus. Since no one can give a perfect description for tartarus, i would say riordan has done an excellent job imagining it as horrible as possible. Spoiler alert: The starting chapters itself are awesome when Hazel meets hecate who warns that she would meet a formidable enemy in the house of hades. hazel discovers her talent for magic and mist manipulation. Also, the Romans and Greeks are expected to be at peace and i wish that reyna returns the athena parthenos safely to camp half blood. many say there was no cliffhanger but i feel the ending was - whether reyna and nico would make it or will any of the seven die - will bob and damsen return alive (their sacrifice almost brought tears to my eyes) - and all... So IT IS AWESOME AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE BLOOD OF OLYMPUS - the title itself is scary....

Rick Riordan: Perfection Personified

After that torturous wait, Rick Riordan has affirmed his fans' belief that he is indeed "The Myth Master" with the fabulously epic The Mark of Athena.

Continuing where SoN left off, MoA gets off to a great start with Annabeth's PoV. The best thing about the book, other than the great Percabeth Reunion, intertwined plot-lines, a host of new villains and the thickening mystery, is that we finally get to see what's going inside our dear old Wise Girl's head. It is refreshing to see things from the perspective of a character who's been with us from the start of the first series, who'...

The best thing about the book, other than the great Percabeth Reunion, intertwined plot-lines, a host of new villains and the thickening mystery, is that we finally get to see what's going inside our dear old Wise Girl's head. It is refreshing to see things from the perspective of a character who's been with us from the start of the first series, who's grown up in front of our eyes.

The book also confirmed my long-standing notion that the middle book in a series is an important turning point (GoF in HP and Titan's Curse in PJO) and seems to have an addictive quality to it. But then, this is a RR book, so what do you expect?

WARNING: In true Riordan style, RR ends MoA on a cliffhanger as well. I mean it literally. Read the second-last chapter with a box of tissues by your side, especially if you are a hardcore Percabeth shipper. And says thanks to the Lord that RR wasn't evil enough to wind up the book without that last chapter.

Fun to read, a definite page turner

Mythomagical world of Camp Half-Blood see the beginning of the next Great prophecy, the one cited by Rachel(The Oracle)in The Last Olympian.
I won't talk 'bout the plot as most of it is already there and adding anything would be a spoiler.

As far as the writing style is concerned, its a little matured if compared to the former books. The humor is developed and makes you smile even when the situation is dangerous, I mean deadly dangerous.

However what appears as a great improvement is the emotional flow of the characters. The way they feel for each other. Their connection to their parents(...

However what appears as a great improvement is the emotional flow of the characters. The way they feel for each other. Their connection to their parents(esp Piper's father, though is ignorant most times, but still she dares to risk everything for him), Annabeth's concern for Percy(though the book is certainly not 'bout them).
And the mysterious style always there with Riordan, You won't find the answers until you get to the last page.

So to sum-up, an above average adventure story, blending a lot of stuff, which keeps you turning the pages until all the bad guys are beaten.

But otherwise the book is awesome and is a pure delight for the reader.

Probably the best book in the HOO series.

When you've read 8 books on Percy Jackson so far, you are familiar with the characters well enough. This book really moves the journey of the demigods forward through numerous twists and turns and so I feel its probably the best book in the series as it actually shows them working together and fi...
